Ramage, Gorkss Connolly and Hall is good enough cover. We also have Hill and Leigertwood who can play CB if needed.
We might have disagreed yesterday but I fully agree with you today.

We need Orr because it's a position we are weak in and we have 4 centre backs already at the club so don't need Stewart as well. If we are effectively buying Orr for just £100K and are shot of Stewart then I think that is a fantastic bit of business.

        Stewart is

        Stronger
        Faster
        Better in the Air
        Scores more goals
        Braver and more committed

Than Hall, Connolly, Gorkss Hill & Ramage. These are the attributes which separates Stewart from the rest of our centre halves. You need no nonsense centre halves in this division not ball playing cultured centre halves. If sold we have to replace Stewart otherwise we are exposed and severely weakened. I am under no illusion about Stewart's shortcomings but this is the CCC defenders make mistakes and Stewart is not a donkey; he is a lump and probably one of the most powerful centre halves in the division and he is an honest hard working pro.

          Stewart is no great loss.

Sounds like a great bit of business.

I am just suprised a decent manager like Coppell is thinking like w12.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Disagreeing twice in one week - what's happened?

Anyway, for every Chris and Wes Morgan (clearly not related) then has been a Steven Taylor, Andre Bikey, Gabriel Tamas, Liam Ridgewell, Sean St Ledger in this division who didn't have to lump it 50 yards and did get the ball down on the floor. During our short spell under Magilton when we were destroying everyone we were playing the ball out from the back with Gorkss.

I know Claude Davis excelled under Warnock but if Warnock feels that Stewart is want he wants in his team then I'll back Warnock's decision until proven otherwise.

Thing is you need a Stewart alongside a Gorkss for instance. We went through 5 managers last year its, no surprise the defence was all over the place. Players don't need to lump a ball 50 yards if they tactically aware and told to keep it simple. The loss of Stewart makes us weaker at the back there is no denying that he is one of a few players we have you can trully call a hard man as well.

He'll do well at Bristol City mark my words and as far as I am concerned the only option we have unless we buy someone to replace Stewart is to convert Legiertwood to a centre half.

I don't even consider Ramage & Hall replacements. That leaves Connolly who is over rated and injury prone and IMO makes a better RB, its a sorry state of affairs.

in an ideal world i would like to replace hall with somebody like stewart who has better concentration. - some muscle.

i think having 4 cb's in ramage, hall, connolly and gorkks is good enough.

hill is a cb playing leftback and legs can also fill in.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
                Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

IMO Connolly hasn't been fit enough to be rated one way or another. He's never been able to establish himself in any position because he is either moved or injured. I think he has the attributes to be a good solid defender though. As for Fitz I think he is injury prone but also prone to an error as much as Stewart is. Gorkss I think is solid. Good with the ball at his and should start against Barnsley. As for his partner it could be well be Ramage as he performed very well at the end of last season. I don't think we will be an attractive side in defence next season but we should be solid.

I don't think we can afford to hold on to 5 centre backs. I think most will agree that neither Ramage nor Connolly are centre backs and if there is an offer on the table for one of them then it makes good sense to let one go. Personally, I'm glad it's Stewart as opposed to Gorkss. I'd be happier if it were Hall but buying Orr for effectively £100k is very good business.

If we are shedding one of these I'd like it to be Hall. Stewart would be a little way down the order I'd send them out in but there is adequate cover here. I reckon Ramage could be a surprise package for many this season if he gets played in (CB) position regularly. I know some don't like him but he's been ponced about being palyed all over the park with different pairings (and different goalkeepers behind). I think he is a good CB.

Gorkks for me is our best CB but in an ideal world I'd have paired him with Stewart. I always saw Hill coming in as the man to bring some organisation to the defence especially with Derry sitting in front. Now with Hall looking like a starter, get ready for panic and disorganisation at back. Both Hall and Connolly's injury records have been poor whereas apart from the fracture Stewart's has been a lot better. The fact now we are looking to Ramage with hope concerns me a lot, its not progress in fact to me it feels like the opposite.

Before Connolly got injured towards the end of last season he was playing his best football at RB I have seen in a Rangers shirt under Warnock. This whole issue of having too many Centre Halves in the first place comes down to one imbecile alone and that is Paladini. If we had just signed 2 FB's in the first place in Jan 2008 we would not be in this mess right now defensively.
