i care, im a traditionalist. 1 to 12 should be your best and first choice players.

    • Some of you need to see a shrink. Moaning all bloody summer, and now you make a big fuzz over squad numbers...

The number 3 is left-back number, so Hill gets it. Don't think Stewart is too bothered

Clarke has "replaced" Vine in the squad, so given his number

Helguson has played in almost every friendly, he keeps his number 9 from last season

We are bringing in a right-back, so the number 2 is made available. Also means that Ramage is not seen as a right-back

In an ideal world, I would have liked Faurlin wearing number 8, Leigertwood 15, Mackie 11, Gorkss 5 and Connolly 6

Maybe you are right but just because he wears the number 9 shirt doesn't mean he'll start for us.

Might be because fans like you make him feel so welcome at Loftus Road

            • Not a big fan but Helguson is the closest thing we have to a centre forward at the moment if you are a traditionalist. Better option than any of the others that would describe themselves as "strikers" imo. Depressing as that might be.

But that was when the manager had power and didn't bow down to players saying that they wanted a particular number because some basketball player wears that number or because of "sentimental" reasons.

                  It's not a worry, it's a bloody disgrace.

                  • Haha, Tim...You've been busy tonight.

Not that I'm trying to stir things...But I had to giggle. Purely on the time you've taken.

I'd rather have watched the Prizefighter on sky.

The boy has come good. I'd never have picked him as the man to lead our front line, but I'm pleased. He's always been half decent, but never really did it for us. I suppose a lot of credit goes to NW for getting the best out of him.

                          Fair play, HH.

                          • Aren't we restricted to 25 players in the prem anyway?

And slightly less credit to certain fans who wrote him off after one admittedly bad miss against Palace on what was his debut or certainly one of his first games. Our fan base can be really negative about certain players while giving others a fairly easy ride - Hulse had been absolute pants for about 15 games before fans started to queston him. If Helguson had been that bad they would have started burning his efigy. It was Helguson coming back into the side that turned our season round, yet I wonder even now if many fans give him the true credit he deserves.
