  • Deleting Entire Threads

Please don't do it. Some of us (geeks) spend a lot of time finding stats or newspaper articles to support an argument which if deleted is time wasted. If you start a thread and you don't agree with the response because it has a personal insult then inform the mods but if it simply is because people disagree with what you are saying then do not delete the thread. This and all other forums rely on differences of opinion so get used to people not agreeing with what you say or believe in.

If, however, you ask a question and it gets answered or has no responses then and only then can you delete the thread. If a thread is deleted and clearly a debate is taking place the thread will be reinstated. If the same person continues to delete threads they will be warned so for your sake don't do it.

I think all posts should be vetted by mods before they go up. That way we'll know that they are officially approved and pass the acceptability tests. Then all mod approved posts should stay up.

What happens if there are no mods online?

I'm not naming names but somebody wrote a thread and didn't like it when they were being disagreed with so they deleted the thread. All I'm saying is don't do it.

Yes, and charge a fixed fee for every post submitted! Because mod time costs

                          So it can be done?

I think a thread should then only be deleted if the users of the thread ask for it to be deleted i.e. if someone poses a question to someone and it's then answered.

It's done now, just thought of where this could be, I have set it so users can delete a post they made but not threads, any thread they wish deleted they can contact a member of the team.
