  • My main worry as it stands

Forget the whole " Warnock has them playing as a team, and spirit etc"
I have just looked at peoples various starting XI's and have to say, I cannot see ONE player who has genuine pace..

Defence - Ramage, Gorrks, Connolly, Hill, Hall - possibly the slowest defence we have ever had

Midfield - Hogan, Buzz, Rowly, Legs, Cook, Derry, Faurlin - one paced at best

Strikers - Vine, Agyemeng, Helgusson, Mackie - Apart from Mackie who is quite nippy - I have seen more pace in my nans bingo que on a sunday night.

In todays game, especially with NW as our manager, hard work, athletisism and pace are paramount, and I for one feel that we will get found out, time and time again, both defensively and attacking if we do not rectify this problem.

See how Germany whacked one long ball over supposidly one of the worlds best defenders, and due to his chronic lack of pace, they scored.

Pace is so important in todays game, and we have none of it.

    Post of the day!
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Its alright Jeffro as long as we got a load of old cloggers capable of giving 100% every match that's the most important thing.

As well as pace its nice to have players capable of holding onto the ball as well with a bit skill can actually benefit those players with a lack of pace.

You forgot Clarke, he is faster than Mark Lewis-Francis.

In all seriousness, that's why we need McAnuff and another striker. I should add that Josh Parker is bloody quick tho.
15 years in the wilderness will be a distant memory come Sunday 8th May 2011.

That's actually a very good point Jeffro.

I can't say I have looked at the pace in the side to be honest, but you are right - Mackie aside there isn't any.

Should we sign him, McAnuff will give us that something abit different.

But even (if) we were to sign Adel, we still wouldn't have that speed up front which can make that little bit of difference.

Maybe with the football Warnock will have us playing pace won't necessarily be so important?

last year tho we didnt have any real pace, routledge was our only real pace-to-burn player.. simpson could move but i didnt really see him leave players for dead..

i do agree however we need something creative/pacey in our attack. alternatives.. sadly i feel we are only going to sign 2 more player + orr. when in reality we still need about 5 plus orr.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
            Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

No matter what Football we play though SM, the defence when under pressure NEEDS pace..

Going forward you can play a "keep ball " game as spain do but it is imperitive to have a t least 1 quick defender to cover. That leaves Damien Stewart, now personally I would play him simply because we have no one else, but would many be happy with him starting??
              Doubt it.

Stewart isn't quick and his concentration is very poor. If he could read the game then he would be half decent. I would still rather play ramage and connors, as you know u will get 100% effort and a real effort not to make silly mistakes. Stewart should be half decent but doesn't have a footballing brain to go with his strengths

Legs isn't the quickest of players but somehow always seem to make one 50yd mazy run with the ball every game... Before shooting wildly or losing it.

have to disagree on agyemang mate. his pace is incredible of a man of his build. the problem is, he is rubbish at everything else!
