No, Thorpe was taken out by Repka at West Ham quite early in our first season back in the CCC and never got over the seriousness of the injury. He was only loaned out when trying to get full fitness again, but, thanks to the animal Repka, never really achieved it. He moved to a lower league and then suffered a serious eye injury which did for him.
It's also worth noting that many of Gallen's goals came when the front pair was him and Thorpe, at times when Furs was injured or suspended -- mainly because Thorpe's positional play was very good and he drew defrenders away from Gallen very effectively, which gave the ageing and slowing-up Gallen the time and space he needed to succeed.
Thought he was very underrated by many of our fans (who don't seem to understand the importance of what you do off-the-ball).Faurlin is my hero!!! Love him!!! #########
