We can only HOPE that we get promoted and that NW knows exactly what he's doing for this coming season, and behind that hope I think we all need to start being a bit more positive and optimistic about our chances and get behind the team from the 1st minute against Barnsley...

I dont think you need to spend great deals of money and pay high wages to win that all important promotion to the promise land... although there are a lot of people on this board who are really trying hard to convince me that this is the only way ... which I am getting slightly bored with

Take a look at other teams... who have done it in the past... regardless of who are they, we should take a leaf out of their book! For example ..

Reading - Kevin Doyle 75k (from cork city) - Become a good prem striker
- Stephen Hunt FREE (from brentford) - Become a good prem AMF

Im sure at the time Reading fans must of been thinking the same as us but with a good manager and what turned out to be a strong team they go there in the end...

These two in particular could be our bargains.. and I hope they are, and I will be getting right behind them on August the 7th...

Very good post. Shame so many have obviously opened the thread then read your comments and because they aren't about player signings or a moan they choose not to comment.

The likes of Blackpool, Burnley and Hull have all managed to get promoted so there is little reason to suggest we can't do the same. Simpson scored more than DJ Campbell last season so it has nothing to do with goal scorers. It's more to do with team unity and holding onto a manager for longer than 10 matches.

People (me and included at times) have been dragged into listening to idiots like this eagle guy and transfers stories which may or might not happen and have forgotten to think about what we have got already and what is happening.

We are currently having a very very good pre-season and by the sounds of it... the first team are having a great time in Italy and are still winning games! Awesome...

Not only this but our new signings have settled in well and showing some great potential..

Its true.. A good team is not necessarily a team of players worth over 200million with wages of 50k each... it simply isnt.. its more about the team as a 'whole' progressing together, playing good football and most importantly wearing the top with pride.

Blackpool are a great example... and we can aspire to this...

Good thread! I am also tired of sensationalist thread either moaning that we havnt signed a player or simply putting a players name like Guti and asking whether we should go for them?!?

People need to wake up and come to terms with the quite clear fact that we will not be spending big money no matter how disappointing that is!!!!

Maybe once some fans have had this epiphany they can get back to supporting the players we do have.

I think we have spent some money, probably in terms of championship spending so far this summer we are probably in the top 5. I'm also very happy with out signings but sometimes on this page you feel like you are in the minority to have that point of view!

I would personally be disappointed to see us make a signing that would obviously put the club at risk financially, chasing the "dream"

My opinion is that if Blackpool, burnley and reading can do it then why can't we with an experienced manager and a huge helping of stability and team spirit.

We havnt signed Orr or Jobi yet so untill I see them on the offish site then it hasnt happened!

If we do spend that bit of extra cash on some good players which are needed for right reasons then wicked!

I just think we all need to remember if we dont then it really isnt the end of the world..

We all seem very uptight and angry on this forum that Rangers have not spent madly this transfer market...

But we don't need too... NW is a very experienced clever manager who always get results (and promotions with shoe string budgets and shrewd signings) ... I think for the sake of our beloved team we must give it a chance, get behind the team...

And as said... we have spent a little bit of money already...
