Everyone said at the time he would only agree to join us if he was gauranteed a big budget to spend on players, and he would be fully supported by the "new" board. He even came out publically and said us fans were in for a treat of a summer, and he wasnt talking about the weather,3 months later and the club have spent a total of £1.2 million in transfers, and we are 2 weeks from the start of the new on.So WHY did he agree to join us,and have the board FULLY backed him,im just interested in others opinions on this, and PLEASE lets not let in decend into insults and in board argueing, thanks in advance.

Maybe the board have supported him but because he's been in the business so long he knows the true value of a player? Who's to say that he is being savvy knowing that if he gets taken for a mug on transfer 1 he'll get ripped off there after. It happened with Chelsea and it's happening with Man City. You pay over the odds for a player and soon every club catches onto the fact that a club has money and they'll spend regardless.
Was De Jong with just 6 months to go of his contract really worth the £18m that City paid for him? Nope but after their other transfer dealings every club selling to Man City will expect big bucks for their players. As I said, Warnock has been in this game for long enough not to taken for a fool. He has stated that the £750k is a fair offer for Darren Ambrose. Maybe he thinks that £1.5m is all that McAnuff is worth and won't pander to the likes of Crystal Palace or Reading. If he or even the board went crazy and upped their bids for these players the likes of Spurs for Taraabt or Arsenal for Simpson or even Doncaster for Woods would all expect silly money for their players too.

I can imagine the talks to go like this: 'We want you to work on a realistic championship budget as we do not want to bankroll a promotion. If the right player comes along then we will support this. We look at this as a 3 year project'
they arent going to do a man city, lets accept this!
