Yeah I think he did as well as can be expected in difficult circumstances, I don't see how the Dutch can have any complaints, they should be thanking him for letting them have 11 men on the field for as long as he did! De Jongs could easily have been a straight red, there's an argument for sending off Van Bommel in every game he plays and Heitinga's second yellow was a definite.
Yes Spain dived but then so did Robben, and the ref can't be expected to get every decision spot on when the players are out to decieve him.

The worst decision was giving the goalkick for a blatant corner!

Because the whole way through the tournament they played good passing football, even vs Brazil, but when the final came along they were studding Alonso and breaking his ribs, and chopping people down all over the place. How Van Bommell wasn't sent off at least 3 times is amazing.

Dirty, cheating tactics gets you nowhere and the better football prevailed, then they start moaning at the ref? For what exactly? They should be thankful he only sent Heitinga off! Van Bommell and Robben should have gone aswel along with De Jong!

As any good ref will tell you, when both sides complain, you got it about right.

he done very well.. spanish known for diving and all huddle around the ref at every decision. dutch try to kick spain off the park.. hard game to officiate. however you could tell in the spectacle that is the world cup final. Webb didnt wanna finish the game with 8 vs 10.. because in light thats what it could have been.. and with another weaker ref it would of been.

how anybody can complain is beyond me.

Webb still got so much to learn to be up there with the truly great referees of all times, like Valentin Ivanov.
