Not Glaxo but close by Paul.
Sorry mate no way, its a very important commodity, most people on here want a stable club, you wont have one if every season you need to be buying in 4 or 5 players Run in a proper way with the right people in charge you will see a better (far) standard of player comming through. But be patient it will take a good few years. Everyone wants a goal getter or a quality left back why aren't we producing players?

        Nope. Massive waste of cash.

What's the point? What does an Academy deliver that CoE doesn't.

How many academies can you have in a 30 mile radius. Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Fulham, Reading, Palace and West Ham all already have Academies. The talent pool doesn't get bigger just because we have an Academy. Kids will still come to a CoE as they see they have a better chance of first team football with us rather than Chelsea or Fulham.

Despite his hi-faluting pronouncements - Simon Jordan's insistence that the Academy remained was the stone that very nearly put Palace into the abyss.

An Academy is a badge of honour if you can afford to sustain it. Palace couldn't and we couldn't if we chose to run a sustainable business model.
These things cost upwards of £25m to construct (probably more given land prices in west London) and due to FA requirements, the annual running costs run into millions (ten times more than a CoE). A sale of one player every so often (a Bostock, Routledge or Clyne) doesn't come close to touching the sides. IMO a vanity project that is unnecessary when there are alternatives if people are prepared to look at these projects in a considered manner rather than allowing ego to come in to it.

Firstly COE sides play other COE sides they dont play the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal and Spurs, if they did then your argument would hold more substance as for Palace how much have they recouped and what quality players have come through there academy system lately? Clyne, Mosses , the lad that went to spurs whos name escapes me at the moment, they were shafted by the FA over that move but there financial position was NOT due to the running of the academy.

That was Bostock and they were shafted due to Jordan's greed rather than the FA just applying the rules in the same way they do for every other transfer of an under 16 player. The Academy was a massive drain on Palace's resources and whilst not the sole reason for their troubles, it remained an unsustainable model of a club of their size and income.

Liam O'Brien and Dean Parrett came through our CoE system, got us sizeable fees (over £1m for Parrett) and our youth sides regularly play their peers at the Academy clubs. It's purely vanity.

Only in pre season can a COE side play a Academy side, i have seen QPR at Arsenal and Chelsea and would rather our boys play these teams week in week out, than just in the summer. Remember they play in a unofficial league from the age of nine and that can only help develop better players imo. Bostock was his name thanks for that,
also Scanell came through there academy, will have to agree to disagree mate.

I'd love a new stadium but our attendances are so poor at the moment, I'd like us to get started on one when we're in the prem

Gates are poor but, dont forget we have a poor stadium, poor views, inforstructure, seating, even when we were doing well last season we could not fill the ground.....many people i know who stopped comming, have said not paying ticket prices to see half the pitch, uncomfortable seats, wast of time trying have a pee, or get a drink at h/t.

I was under the impression the club wanted a training ground a lot closer to Loftus Road than Rickmansworth?

Maybe this is the best investment this club has made in decades, and in time we may not have to invest in players if we have our own coming through.

suprisingly easy to get to the ground from here. ive been home by just after 5pm once or twice when im in a right rush and left just before the final whistle.

Maybe you misread, we are talking about Rickmansworth not Wembley.
