Why did they buy in to QPR?

Before I opine on the original question - What on earth is "casually racist"? Pointing out that Indians eat curry? Jeez (whoops - sorry there's the christian community gone as well due to my "casual blasphemy" ). Let's not get too PC eh.
I think the facts of this buy out are on record aren't they? Paladini roped in Briatore and Briatore then cast about for people with real money to back him in plans to make QPR "boutique". Bernie led to Mittal and Mittal passed his interest to Amit. The original Flav plan feel apart as he was here to make money and realised (a little late) it aint happening unless they spend. And he can't/won't spend. So end of that plan.
Amit is keen on sport and has form on projects linking sport to community - mostly driven at the Indian community in the past but now wider with his sporting trust and olympic stuff). So he is here for that. But the purse strings are held by his father in law (who gave him the lead on the "project" largely to head off the bad PR that was beginning to bubble up from their involvement under Briatore) and to a lesser extent the others. So I imagine the most important thing is to be seen to be working with rangers and the community and that success for the first team is secondary. That;s it in a nutshell. That is all more or less on record aint it? They aint going to spend big. Not what this is about imo.

Anyone who follows football that I meet for the first time, I am quite quick to tell them I support QPR.
Everyone to a man says we have the richest men in football, why don't they spend their way out of the championship?
In many respects that leaves me lost for words because much of the time I don't have the answer, the only logically explaination I use is that we are in the championship and a club with a relatively small fanbase so it takes longer to build, though it does really frustrate me that Fulham advertise in Acton and Ealing and the club don't seem yet to have the business model that will develop the club and bring in the fans. The one postive thing we have for this season is a genuine belief that we have a decent manager (though he does have an arrogance about him, which I guess is needed) and a chairman at the club who is genuinely passionate about building a good football club spirit and making fans potentially in the future feel proud about Queens park rangers.ALL BEST BANTER AND ALL THE LATEST FROM QPR.

Mr Stainrod, of course that is fine. I hadn't spotted it was you or might have just ignored it as I like your contributions on here. It just gets my goat sometimes that we can dig out jocks and scouse and no one (rightly) bats an eye but there is an invisible protective ring of correctness around anyone with a different skin colour meaning you can't take the ****. It's racist is what it is! Shocking.
Back on subject, Amit doesn't have the money to spend really. He was never going to be the messiah. It is his father in laws dosh. I do not doubt that Amit is a sports fan (but not football fan till now) and that he enjoys this role but I also can't help thinking that the real priority for him is to run the show ship-shape as he might be being watched by Laksmi to see whether to trust him with the family money in the future. Old Lakshmi seems to have been very careful to keep it all in the blood family so far (as far as anyone can tell). His daughter gets the lot. So what we want is a proper rangers supporter to do her and get her to sort out the R's. She's actually a fair sort so not much of a chore.

Sounds like a mission for Facto! Reiger also seems to fancy himself in that dept.
Think you are spot on about the money aspect. Mittel knows its not hard to buy success, but he has seen Abromovich has already done that. The son in law is going to be able to impress him far, far more by being able to say "look pops, I managed to turn this club into a big business with virtually no money."
