The people who he said it to (with no previous convictions of being anti GP) have discussed it on .org and on the old board.

Can you imagine what would happen to a councillor if they were overheard by a member of public calling a fellow counciller that? You may think it but saying it to all within earshot...

Would a councillor ever be that indiscreet? :horror:

        • Like the way we have swayed from the actual argument, on whether sporting directors are good in football, to a personal attack yet again.

Spain and Italy have sporting directors.

We keep going around circles, as the supporters opposed have always been opposed and now cling onto even blaming him for selling to Flavio Briatore!!

Just a shame we cannot talk about the issues, instead of getting personal.

            • Pete have a read back the issues have been discussed in a calm manner, the personal stuff was not started by any anti gp faction, and I have strayed of the subject only to address the points made by gp advocates

To return once again, Yes I think in certain circumstances a sproting director can work, yes I think a coach such as Sousa would need some support in this direction. the next ovious question therefore is, is GP the right person to be a sporting director and this has been discussed and arguments agianst put forward, the debate became one sided because no valid arguments to support gp in this position have really been put forward, the best case is perhaps the one i myself put forward earlier today which i also refuted, have you got anything else or if you feel that GP as sporting director really cannot be discussed in this thread lets start another.

if I reply with Routledge, Gorkss, Vine, Tarrbatt, Buzsacky, Cerny, Ramage, Connolly, Cook

will I get replied with Delaney, Helgusson, Hall, Borrowdale?:confused:

It comes down to how much you have to spend !!. If you have big budgets, then go bang here is 4 million for a top striker, we are not doing that.

Admittedly we are not spending massive transfer fees, but we have been guilty of putting a lot of mediocre players on long healthy contracts. Im not naive enough to claim that GP has not signed quality players, however with these we have seen a lot of mediocre/poor players. However questionning GP's merits as a sporting director must encompass all natures of the role (i.e. youth development, something we hear next to nothing about from the club or any 'sauces') So the question remains, is an ex-agent really the best man for the job?

BTW this is not a personal attack, i'm purely interested in debating the matter in hand

                    • why oh why

why oh why has this discusion gone around in circles.ending up being a debate with out any real end product
lets put it under the microscope
gianni paladini has spent about five million on players but there worth is projected to be about ten million but if we can get promoted there worth could rocket to anything between fifteen and eighteen million
thats why me and pete have declared war on paulo ceaser
but if we were to spend a mere one and a half million pound next season
our side would roar into the prem
those two players are cox of swindon and hooper of s****horpe
but are about 22 and both are like clive allen they live for goals there game is nothing but putting the ball in the back of the net
even a heavily critisized player damien delaney could become good with a positive manager
check his wikipedia hes a 6 ft 3 ins center half or midfield player
but our non knowledgable inexperienced manager hasnt the courage to try him out in one of those positions
because hes to frightened...venables would have explored every situation he made john gregory a midfield player after buying him as a full back he bought flanagan as a center forward and copnverted him to a mid field player
he even tried playing bobby hazell a center half as a center forward
                      and he scored
thats the mark of a brilliant manager
courage positivity and the desire to score goals and to attack at all costs
give us a good manager now and every body would be singing the praises of gianni
so lets all agree gianni is the man
but q block pete must tell gianni about gary hooper and simon cox because unfortunately gianni dosnt have very good scouts

                      • Gianni will sign whoever it is that lines the pockets of him & his "associates" pockets the most, not who the best possible player available for Queens Park Rangers Football Club is.
Probably part of the reason why a lot of people dont like him & dont think he is good news for Queens Park Rangers football club.

Good swerve from the issue in hand, you must not consider youth an important element of the club's future if you are happy to have an ex-agent in charge of overseeing their development.
