Not at all but what a strange coincidence it is that those who constantly moan are those who in the main do not go!!

Perhaps its because those of us lucky enough to watch QPR actually play are content to just have a team.

Good point Paul many of GP's largest critics only attend 3 or 4 games a season.

I think the real debate here should be do you agree with a DoF system at your club.

KLR bangs on about letting Sousa get on with the job but Paulo Sousa and GP have a good working relationship by all accounts?

We go round and round in circles on this debate I like GP I think he is 100% behind the club and I also think he is very good at his job.

He does make mistakes but then again he is only human the Barrowdale and Ageyman contracts (length of) appear to be odd decisions but then again for the two bad ones I can name 10 terrific signings.

Where KLR's argument falls down is by looking at Charlton out when Alan Curbishley in came Dowie they let Dowie loose with the biggest transfer budget in the clubs history.

      With gems such as;

      Djimi Traore
      Amdy Faye
      Jimmly Floyd Hasslebank (45kpw)
      Andy Reid
      Souleymane Diawara
      Simon Walton

In total Dowie spent 11 million on total ****e and handed players huge contracts , now Charlton are looking to bring in a DoF to make sure this never happens again t

Still the debate will go on and on.

I moan. Some of the time. I go to over 75% of our home games! Does that count? :grimace:

No it does not count because it might ruin my argument

This is the point that im interested in debating, GP as a sporting director, why with the money that we have can we not attract a sporting director who is infact what it says on the tin, we talk about Sousa not having experience as a manager but GP has no experience as a sporting director.

I have no grudge against GP, I just question his merits in a role which I would argue is as important as that of the manager. We have seen already (borrowdale, ageymang, cook, delaney etc) that he is perhaps not qualified to be in such a key position at the club.
Win or lose, on the booze

Fair point Jim perhaps Flavio and Bernie think that GP is doing a good job and they trust him with his role at the club.

Flavio has shown time and time again they if he thinks they are not capable then they are out.

yes but is not the vast majority of his experience in getting good deals for the players he has represented on a individual basis as opposed to working to a strategic plan for long term benefit of a football club? Which is the role of a sporting director.

How does working as an agent and as Peter says getting the best deal for the player you represent mean you ar ebetter qualified at spotting a good player than you or I? Asked it earlier in the thread and still no answer...

More Porkie Pies ??! tut tut tut Peter.

Although I'm glad you included the rather ambiguous sounding word "around" in your argument, you should have also included the appertif "DONT QUOTE ME ON THIS, BUT, He has been involved in player transfers for AROUND ( the magicly ambiguous sounding word ) 25 years"

Peter, well done you truly are being schooled well in the dark arts of "unorthodox" Italian Business Practises.

To be fair, this is a debate on sporting directors in general and whether they are good for football.
