LOL
it always seems to descend to this level doesnt it.
I don't hold any grudge against GP, never have done, and anyone going back through my posts on any board can see this so please dont throw the "grudge" at me if any dont like what I say, and likewise i would say for many others who are labeled as the "grudgers"!
DFE you yet again throw up this auto defense of GP "he mortgaged his house and is such a lovable lil chap who wouldnt hurt a fly and was left to do it all on his own etc etc what a hero"
Now come on
How would you really describe someone who mortgages his family home to come up with the money to invest in a business in dire financial straights, in a industry sector where making money is not the norm but the exception.
Pete, Dex and anyone else, please think about it.
I know what I would call someone who did that, a mug punter or a very clever gambler with an eye on the main chance. not a lovable lil fellow who just wanted to help the wonderful fans of queens park rangers, especially seeing he had only recently failed to invest/take control of Port Vale. A club he stated he loved etc etc.
Now the bit about lil old lovable GP strugling on his own holding the whole empire together single handed. Was he not in this position because he shifted everyone else out one way or another over time. How and why did he end up on his own, there is a very good book by an italian author called "the prince" which I recommend to anyone.
I give GP credit where i feel it is due, (again this is documented) but also feel it is valid to point out his failures where i see them and the one done not obliterate the others however much you might want them to.
My definition of sporting director is someone who takes overall responsibility and oversees the footballing side of the business from top to bottom, I dont think GP is qualified for this role, I am sure there are many better candidates to be found if we had looked.
The definition seemingly put forward by advocates of GP is "dealing with players purchases, sales and contracts. If you look at GP on that basis alone, he has some hits and some misses and I accept that these are to a degree to be expected and goes with the territory, you cant expect every player to turn out a diamond there are too many factors in the equation.
What I am fairly sure of is that i would have thought very hard about employing someone who could be involved in the padula contract debacle in this role, actually strike that, i would not have thought very hard about it at allits New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks

if i was a million air i wouldnt give qpr one penny of my precous money
most millionaires worship there money and cant be parted of it
when you put 600 000 of your own money into the club then you can say youve equalled gianni
its all very clever compairing him with other sporting directors
but the point is that gianni came to us via the midlands he was brought into the club by brian rowe
he fell in love with our club and us supporters must respect his input
he was offerd 1.5 million for stewert and 2.5 for blackstock, before flavio had even come on board but gianni refused to sell them
so please respect for the little italian love machine he saved our club

"its all very clever compairing him with other sporting directors"
I dont think its very clever at all, since the title of the thread is
"Sensible Debate On Sporting Directors/Player Buys"
then i would think it was the obvious thing to do rather than try and move the thread away from this import debate to a personal love/hate gp stand offits New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks

you make that sound like a good thing.
As a qpr supporter if I am to beleive the story from gp himself that we were right on the precipice of administration and possible oblivion was only minutes away then the fact that he could have saved the club by selling a player or 2 for sums in excess of their real worth at that time makes me not just dissapointed but really quite angry.
are you sure of these facts, doesnt it make you angry?its New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks

How can someone deemed "Inappropriate" for Port Vale Football Club be deemed "Appropriate" for Queens Park Rangers Football Club.
He undeniably has a knack for lining the pockets of himself & his "Associates" but as for any great talent for the football side of things ?
He has no talent or ability to bring to the table.
Get him out & let the Double European Cuop winner do his job & watch how successful we can become.
Success should be for the fans that have supported this club because of blood ties through generation after generation & through thick & thin, success should have nothing to do with lining the pockets of these quite frankly "Dubious" Individuals & their even more Dubious "Associates"
This is the way I feel about the whole thing, dont try and insult peoples intelligence by saying that GP has more "Experience" than Sousa either hence he should be kept on, disgraceful & cringeworthy comment, learn to show some respect to those that deserve it & not to those that dont deserve it & never will.

DFE you have used this arguement on a couple of occasions so perhaps you would like to give it a bit sustenance, like when and from whom did we recieve these alleged offers. I certainly don't remember them.
Anyone else shed any light on this claim?Win or lose, on the booze
