  • Vine - last chance?

    curious to know.

i felt he and pat had a terrible pre-season last year.. both overweight along with a few others and really neither got off the ground last season.

MAYBE and this is wishful thinking.. if vine comes into and out of pre-season in shape.. then maybe return of the old rowan who could have arguably been one of the better strikers in the league?

that being said. will warnock give him another chance? he didnt seem to get many under warnock last year.

will also state that vines decline is a shame but its his own fault. last season he had chance to show everybody what he can do but he just didnt.

It is amazing what the last chance saloon does to people. Some sink and some swim but I think as far as Vine is concerned, if given a chance, he will surprise a few.

Give him a pre season and see how he goes.

I remember the good vine and if he could be 3 quaters that player, then he would be the best player in the squad. Yes the injury was a terrible one but I just don't think you lose your ability. The boy was class and needs 1 final chance.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

so frustrating that we know how good vine actually is, but that he now seems to look even worse that stefan moore did!!! Ive always liked Vine, but unless he improves that awful form, we should let him move on. its not just lack of goals, its his performance in general which has looked awful, but maybe the summer will help, who knows

i agree on moving him on after last year.. but difference comes when u see pat and HH and you know how good they can be and you compare that to the vine we first purchased.

no striker in our squad is as good as vine was when he first joined. i would even go as far to say that pat wouldnt have got as many goals as he did when he first joined if it wasnt for vine.

He was good but I wouldn't say he was class. I do think people go a bit over board about Vines form before he got injured. A month before he got injured his form was starting to take a serious nose dive but many people seem to forget that.

I personally think he should retire, his leg is ****ed, I wouldn't even call him a League 1 player. More suited to non league or the forth tier nowadays, complete and total shadow of his former self, I've a mate who is convinced he now walks like a raspberry ripple since the leg break off the pitch, one leg shorter than the other.

If any one player deserves a pay off it is probably Vine.

Fair play to him, a horrible unfortunate injury has finished his career, desereves a pay off, but not even a squad number at QPR.

Didn't do Gary Bannister too much harm though

That having one leg shorter than the other doesn't have to be a hinderance. With Vine the hinderance is that he has been given 1000 last chances and shown time and again that he is no longer up to it.

I fought Vine's corner massively last season as he was a brilliant player pre-injury. Trouble is, he's no where near that standard now and for me hasn't shown enough desire to get back to that form.

Martin Rowlands has had a few major injuries and each time has commited himself to getting back to form and showing the tenacity that helps drive him and the team on.

I never said it did though so I don't get your point.
