  • Worst world cup?

This has to be on par with the USA world cup 94?

It has been a terrible world cup.

The semi final last night was a shocker and apart from the fact that Uruguay cheated to get into the semi they were a very poor side.

Germany have been the only side that has impressed me.

I am looking forward to tonights game, which really should of been the final.

Although I am pleased the dutch got into the final they will need to improve drastically to beat either of the other 2 sides still left in the tournament.

World cups always feel like a QPR season of late.
You get about half way and then you have nothing to get excited about. England are out and QPR are playing for midtable.
Better than a relegation battle but at least that adds some drama although wouldn't it be nice to be at the right end of the table.

Current signings suggest once again that won't be the case.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Was what wierd last night was that with Jim Beglin ill, ITV could not replace him. Another balls up from the channel, it was odd listening to it. Even the commentator sounded like he wasn't there and commentating from the studio.

I bet on either Germany or Holland to win it and I like
this tournament so far, for some strange reason
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:

        http://kirillqpr.blogspot.com/

How and why did I start supporting QPR in Estonia:

been a blinding tournament. edge of the seat stuff, amazing goals galore, sending offs galore, last minute missed pens to win missed, cheating aplenty etc etc etc.
right up there with the best ive ever seen, englands shote showing and the first games aside.
cant wait till tonight. what a game in store, the true final i reckon, but thems the breaks.

That comments grates on me , because i totally agree...I have really enjoyee watching Germany.Thought the first 60 mins of last nights game reminded me of watching England,

Difference of opinion rethe Uruguain handball. He didn't do it in a cheating fashion,he got punished end off.Agree with the Rugby rules...but it's like saying handballs or fouling all over the pitch is cheating.

agree spencer. Holland do remind me of england as the ball is like a hot potato. Germany break with pace and purpose its just brilliant football. won't be easy 4 them against spain but I am hoping 4 a good game

this world cup has been very good. course it was no 1990, but will there ever be a world cup before we die that england performs that well in?
so apart from that one, this one is as good as any others i remember. loved the football, loved the times of the games.
oh and i knew england were shite, i even did a post declaring, so i didnt get gutted when they proved me right, i just enjoyed the spectacle and great football.
and to be totally honest, i only care about rangers, never get hurt when england croak, only with the r's.

I cannot believe that i'm actually wanting a german national side to win, but I just like watching them.If Spain can sort themselves out - could be a very good games tonight.

GTP - teams have been very cautious this tournament, especially in group stages.

Argentina looked good up till German game...To be fair thought USA played well....Brasil never really looked exciting,Spain and Holland have not really stepped up to the plate.Refs have been poor.Cheating galore...players falling over all the time. It's been OK....Englands 4 games made me want to slit my wrists. If not for germany i think it would have been one to forget. In my Opinion

There have been FAR worse world cups than this. The only thing wrong with this is the ball.

Saying South Africa was the wrong country is absurd - they have done a great job.

And to say USA was bad is utterly ridiculous - that was a great world cup. It is still the only one ever to have sold out every single game and has, by a country mile, the higheset everage attendance. On top of that the prices were good and the facilities were better than anything outside the USA. The tourney was also excellent. The fact the England were not there is the only downside.

The worst world cups were back in the days that it was 2 points for a win and group games were all 0-0. There were a huge number of draws that enabled both teams through, and football used to be crap.

People look back at clips of Holland in 74 and 78 and think the tournies were good....

I thought 94 was an excellent world cup, though the final was a let down. 2006 and 98 were also good. This one is rubbish though, no really cracking games and lots of big players have not performed. I love the atnosphere of the crowds and those vuvuselas ruin it. Fair enough its part of south africa's football but ifor me it ruins the games.
