Not going to defend the guy. We all know he got off to a flying start and then went down hill very rapidly and has largely flattered to deceive despite being given numerous chances. Pretty sure he knows that too.
Also, doesn't appear to have the appetite for some games and just drifts around aimlessly or refuses to chase. So, all in all, pretty disappointing that we have a guy getting well paid so well for so little return and with a bit of an attitude by all accounts.
However, and here is the "what if?" bit...
What if Warnock has a different role lined up for him? Instead of just lumbering around aimlessly up front.
What if he wants him as a big lumbering ox of a target man? A sort of battering ram to distract defenders whilst a little forward nicks all the goals? Or as a bloke who can hold the ball up and lay it off or get knock downs for others. A kind of Emile Heskey?
We know Warnock teams like to lump it so what if he is man to lump it to (The Lumpee") instead of Hulse or Stead? On the plus side, over those two, he does have pace.
Not saying he will do this but it might be an option he is considering to get the best out of this player. Managers bring their own systems and adapt players accordingly to fit in with them. He might try it before deciding to get rid. Personally, think it might be worth a go.
