  • 8,000 to Hillsborough

Apparently, we took 8,000 to Hillsborough on the last day of the season a few years ago. It turned into quite the party, so I'm told ;)

    Who remembers THAT game?

Remember getting to The Horward about 10.30-11ish it was rammed full of R's,everybody had already had a skinful all in good voice.

Remember some moody Owls banging on the party tram windows as we made are way back to the station going past all these home boozers.

Upper tier. Back row. Able to take in everything in front of me. Keeping an eye on the Bristol City score and best of all ....the drive home, with QPR flags everywhere.

What a fantastic day that was
Travelled up in the car with the old man and my brother
Picked up gianni in the midlands
Suited and booted for the day in the sheff wed directors box, the sight of a travelling army of 8,000 to my left and surrounded by Shef Wed fans
They were cheering (bristol city- i think) goals going in which got my back up a bit
When we scored i was going mental and recieving abuse from all sides , i have to say on any other day i might have tried to show restraint when we scored , but the magnitude of the game made that impossible.I wasn't very popular with the locals but nevermind.
After the game i was down in the tunnel cheering on the players , told paul furlong he was magic and celebrated like i hadn't before
I had a warm feeling that day , the first promotion i have experienced and it took about a week for that to wear off
Journey back, felt half as long as the way up,with people celebrating on the bridges on the motorway

          What a day

          What a day

              yep five from here

breakfast in liverpool, almost accosted by a scouse sort.lucky im used to it(nose lengthens)
train to sheffield with some more R's getting on in Manchester.
bars reluctant to let us in so went into one which was holding a morris dancing festival.
tram up rammed with rangers and all the big fat baldy owls giving it large outside their pubs.
robocops at all the tramstops making sure everyone stayed on.
the match was awesome and the atmosphere when we got our third.
great scenes on the terraces and the pitch at the end.
waiting for a tram was great fun with everyone elated.
i think an owl on our tram got chinned or did i dream that.???
back on the train to Liverpool packed with Oldham supporters, drank everything the lady had in her trolley and i mean everything.
night out in Liverpool ,we did something different and had a meal:shocked:
followed by more supping, clubbing and singing.
one N.I.Hoop escorted from O'Neills by two bouncers for refusing to stop singing at the tele during Motd.~(we werent even on.)

              happy day indeed

I was in the bit on the side right next to the wednesday fans who had that ginger **** off corrie given it the massive bigun, it was quite funny watching them getting more and more wound up as the game progressed, half of them got chucked out by the end

Cracking day, missed out on the previous promotion party in the 80's as being too young, but that day was great. Remember elbowing my current girlfriend (now wife) in the face when we scored the first, and never realised it till sheff wed had kicked off again.

Great drive back and a great night - and next morning - in Tommy Flynns in Hammersmith (when it was good).

                            Overall cracking day!
