over stuart pearce, no chance. Cole may be technically better but pearce was still a superb lb and go down in memory as an all time great, everyone will just say cole was a ****.
agreed w12 about pearce-man was a top player.....just think if gerrard had the same players around him he'd be a super player....saying that we'll never know!!!

Agree Gerrard would definately of got into that 90's side but I would struggle to find another
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

when was the last time gerrard had a good game for england?
in fact, when was the last time he had a good game for liverpool?
hes shot to pieces, finished, same as rio ferdinand, the lifestyle has sucked the ####ing life out of them football wise. these days the best english players are reaching retirement age a good 5 to 8 years younger than say even 10 years ago.
they aint got the love, they aint got the need to keep playing to get another few years wages so they can buy a bigger sized pub to earn their living in when they quit.
gerrard and the likes of terry's kids and kids kids kids will never ever have to do a days work from birth to death. that makes any human lazy and unmotivated.

GTP you do talk some bull

Apart from the Algeria match, Gerrard have a very good comp and his work rate was incredible and did try to lead by example.

He can't help the fact that our defence was opened up, due to the pathetic Terry and upson who I think my grandad would beat in a 20 yard sprint and he is 85!

i dont talk bull mate. i talk it how it is.
gerrard was shite every game. i was screaming at him to get off in every game. lampard was our best player by miles against germany and i hate him, but he was.
gerrard had his worst ever season last season and hasnt played a good game for england that i can remember, and if he has, he deffo aint played two on the trot.
and terry is another one finished, he had a terrible season compared to his usual standards, and ferdinand is a joke now, he is a rap producer and movie director not a footballer.
              moneys ruined them all.

Agree with you and also I think Lampard was very good against the germans but I still think Gerrard over the 4 matches was our best player.

Anyway the England team is a worry.

Joe Hart is a decent keeper but the youngsters coming through r poor.

We need to put in a limit like in the Germany league as the foreign players are taking over but unfortunately the premiership is too big for that to happen.

So agree with some of what u say James.

Playing gerrard out of position was on par with treason.....would have fitted into the 90 team like a glove....imo

Yeah playing him on the left was a shocking decision.

Only time Rooney looked half with it was when he linked up with gerrard, he should of played just behind him.

Good post. I wonder about Gerrard as Platt didn't do much but score, but otherwise v hard to disagree. As said above, we didn't realise just how good that team was. It annoys me when I hear commentators say "our players are great, they just don't turn it on in an England shirt". Most are actually merely good, we have no one of real genius

Most Liverpool fans i have spoke to agree that Gerrard has been very poor this season.

And one of them almost never criticises Gerrard.

Main problem regarding England is they play players out of position so they can accomodate them.Rather than picking players who play that position every week. They are trying to put square pegs into round holes.

And if Ashley Cole ever puts on an England shirt again i will support the opposition, even if it's Scotland.

That team in 1990 I felt could take on the World!

I still feel the pain today. :(
