    When is it?

Many on here are fearful that our current squad isn't good enough; it lacks quality, that money hasn't been invested, there is a stream of broken promises, a lack of activity (despite 5 new signings) and that we are, in the most extreme cases, relegation fodder.

Others, like myself, are saying that it is still early days and around 5 weeks till the start of the season and there is little cause for concern as it stands.

The reality, or the truth may be somewhere blurred in the middle. That people's concerns are not something to be dismissed but genuine but the buffer of 5 weeks gives room for improvement.

But, with each day that passes, there seems to be a slight and dare I say, somewhat understandable, conversion to the dark side.

For me - and being QPR, "Optimism" is not a coat I wear comfortably - Panic Day is 31st August when the Transfer Window shuts.

Until then, I'm pretty okay with things.

Just thought it would be interesting to know what Deadline Day others have on here before they become Soothsayers of Doom.

I will start worrying about 3 or four days before the window shuts if we have not signed a genuine goalscorer.

The rest of the squad i can live with, but we need a goalscorer.

Plain and simple its ST Prices, they need to be dropped to reduce expectation.

There are some proper ****wits on here talking about the same ridculous signings constantly which are not going to happen.

I look at last season and I am astounded that a club who had 5 managerial changes in one season didn't get relegated. We made 5 signings with more to come, I just don't get fans who just sit there waiting for something spectacular to happen some people really need to get a life. Next season will be so far removed from a humdinger its time people started realising that. Neil Warnock is our manager FFS, we will grind out results and be hard to beat.

There is no reason why we won't end up in the top 6, anything is possible. Blackpool and Burnley done it with far from spectacular squads.

I think it will actually do ok but it will be a very boring QPR side with not much activity. All the players we've signed are coming to the end of their careers and it would seem that we're signing players to avoid relegation. But having said that, it might do ok so we'll have to see.

On a note, I'm not that impressed with what we've signed so far.

no panic from me, we have signed some steady players who should bring a bit of consistancy to our play. I am confident we will avoid relegation if we sign one more decent striker.

I agree with W12 i think we will be a hard team to beat, but i cant see where the goals are going to come from at the moment. HH couldnt hit a cow's #### with a banjo when he was with us last season, Leon Clarke is hardly going to giving opposition defences sleepless nights, Mackie has not got a fantastic strike rate although i reckon he could, and i say could not will, be a decent signing and Vine is way short of the player he was before that clumsy #### broke his leg. If we did manage to get Taraabt and possibly someone like Beattie then we are big players in the division, if we start the season with the squad we have now i reckon we will be top 8. Still a long way to go though before the start of the season, so im hopeful Warnock will bring in another striker i just hope its a proper goalscorer.

The thing is we have no idea what kind of improvement as players Clarke and Mackie will become (or not) with the squad of players at Rangers. HH for example may be a different player alongside an energetic Mackie, Buzsaky may get more time on the ball with Derry playing the holding role, Stewart may become more composed with Derry sitting in front of him and Hill to his left. When Warnock brings players to the club he's bringing players who will fit into a system and team not individuals with the exception of Taarabt who will become our tailisman. There is far more to this management game than just picking random players names out of thin air and saying he will bag us 25 goals next season. Maybe Warnock doesn't want a striker who we will become dependent on to score week in week out. Maybe Warnock wants to see goals come from all over the pitch and not have us playing just to suit one players strengths.

Sousa had it sussed, build from the back and make us difficult to beat, we needed a striker then and we need one now. The difference between Warnock and Sousa will be under Warnock will will defend further up the pitch; like Sousa's squad we will be physically fit, but Warnock has been given the opportunity to find the right balance of players on the pitch whereas Sousa's authority was undermined by a couple of Italians. It may not be pretty at times, but this is the CCC and the end of the day there is more than one way to skin at cat at this level, all you need is the right manager.

D-day I guess is first game of the season but then traditionally we do well vs Barnsley, I think we have played then 2 or 3 times first game at home.

Our squad is not that far way from the one that did so well last October. I know we ain't got Tarrabt and Simpson but Derry is a good replacement for Watson who was in the midfield during that spell. If under Magilton (with no plan A, B or C) we produced such great results I am pretty sure with Warnock at the helm the team will perform at that level again albeit we need a goalscorer. If we get Beattie, Hooper or someone similar we'll be flying.
22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!
