Both occasions were a brilliant crack...from what I can remember through the haze of alcohol and the passing years...The Milk Cup Final march in particular sticks in the mind as the whole of the Wembley area was swamped with partying happy confident Rrss... we all took over a massive pub in Wembley somewhere outnumbering Oxford about 20/1 and for some strange reason we were all singing twist n shout...the game is best forgotten..

82 march was an iconic moment for any rangers fan. I was 17. Like most I was v v pissed. But ****ing thrilled to bits (and pissed as you like) on the morning. I'd never heard of the "tradition" till we got to Wembley tbh. But best idea ever! Closest club to Wembley marches on and all that! ***s didn't know what was going on and when we all came over the hill at Wembley they just started running (I assume thinking it was the biggest incoming mob they'd ever seen).
By 86 we seemed to get a bit blase tbh. Lots more started out but as we neared Wembley lots were peeling off into the opening pubs so there wan't much of a "entry" into Wembley that time round. Most had already stopped in Harlseden, Wembley High st etc on way in. (The younger viewer of these facts might be reminded that in them days the pubs on Sundays only opened at 12 so as it struck noon everyone was tempted in to nurse the hangovers earned from the night before).
Still a fine tradition. We may have to have a debate at some point whether we resurrect it for a play off final eh? Does that count? I think so.

In this day and age the old bill would have nightmare giving us a police escort of 5.7 miles. It would bring North West London to a standstill.

82 walk was unbelievable as a 13 year old-felt so proud that day walking with my ol' man and his pals....stopped in nearly every pub for "just one pint"....i just wanted to get there....was the last time i cried at a rangers game although i have felt like crying a lot since!!!! 86 was my turn with my pals and when we stopped in every pub i had no complaints!!!!PRIDE OF LONDON.
