When we signed Leon Clarke, Warnock straight away mentioned that he needed to lose weight and get in shape. Leon Clarke has responded tremendously and to me looks like he has lost around 2 stone maybe more in weight in around 2 months before the pre season has even started.

When I have read over the Sheff Wed forums on Clarkes transfer to us most abuse was directed at his weight and attitude not his actual ability. Clarke has now ticked both those boxes for me before a ball has even been kicked. It takes a lot to have that sort of discipline when everyone around you is enjoying their hols and putting their feet up. Well done Leon start as you mean to go on, now lets see if Vine, Buzsaky, Stewart & Ephriam demonstrate the same comittment to getting in shape.

You'd be surprised his muscles are probably a lot stronger than they were. Clarke looks lean and toned, Prsikin had a physical presnce but was a big fairy, better to have strength and faster reactions than being a big lump who can't turn milk.

6ft 2" Clarke must have weigh 15-15.5 st, he is probably down 13-13.5 st, that a good weight for a an old fashioned No.9 which is what Clarke is.

I think he'll stuill have a physical presence just the opposition fans won't be able to take the **** out of him so much now.

I am not impressed by how much weight it looks like some have lost. It isn't much to demand is it.
Joe is a ginga but it is not him in the first pic behind Warnock

                  Derry looks like...

Old Father Time and should be at Lords rather than Loftus..

He does look a bit like of of the players has brought his old man along who was on his way to the beach but thought he'd have a kick around with his heroes instead....

I wouldn't say that to his face though as he looks a bit tasty!!

spot on! I can remember an out of condition Les Ferdinand on loan to a side in Turkey coming back and getting fit and really making an impact! let's hope it happens again.

Les was a one off but the principle could be the same. Clarke has got the skill and can score goals but for whatever reason he seemed disinterested at the Wendies and put on weight. I heard when we signed him that NW made it clear to him that he had to do a lot of work to prove himself and from the day he was signed he has been on a special training regime. From the photos he has got his body in shape and that would indicate that he has his head in shape too. I have a feeling that Clarke will surprise a lot of people and be the new 'Furlong' that we have been missing for a few seasons now.

I share your sentiment here as well Kingo. I believe Clarkes appearances were also limited as a substitute mainly in recent times for Wednesday but he was always capable of bagging the odd goal.

A player with a point to prove who is mentally in shape well as physically and is yet to fulfil their true potential is a gamble definately worth taking, especially on a free transfer.

I don't know enough about Clarke to make any real predictions for the coming season but what I do know is that he he scored twice as many goals and a better rate of goals per minute than Patrick Agyemang did last season. Clarke won't get a look in under Warnock if he isn't fit so the fact he's looking trim is fantastic news. If he only plays as a substitute next season his scoring record suggests he'll be a far better option with 10 to go then Agyemang.
