  • Your choice of defence next season?

    Who will play?

Last year, our defence was a joke - letting in far too many goals, and far too many easy chances were given. We have a quality goalkeeper now but he cant do it alone. Gorkks and Stewart didnt work, Ramage is, well, hes Ramage - Legs can fill in right back but its not really his position, Tosic was great but doesnt look like hes signing, Borrowdale was poor and doubt he would play anyway - Connolly has talent but due to injuries hardly gets a game. Hill on the way most likely - what would be your defence?

It's as tough one. As it stands, without new signings, I would personaly go for:

    RB: Legs
    CB: Connolly
    CB: Ramage or Gorkss
    LB: Borrowdale

    But it won't be that.

God forbid another year of Ramage. We can do so much better if we want promotion!
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

Hill has gone back to Wolves, or do you mean Clint ?.

I liked what I saw of Josh Parker and so I would go with Parker at LB, Gorkks and Rambo in the middle with Conners at RB.

Gut feeling for me but Neil does like to promote talented youth so Parker could well end up there. No problem with that based on the little I've seen of him thus far.

Messed up my left and rights but I think NW may look to give Parker a start, especially at home as he is a very attack minded player.

                  Agreed
                  Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                  And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

conolly- ramage- gorkks- legs- same as last season really.

Though we could do with new left&right backs and a centre half.

As was so expertly deomonstrated in the England game and most of last season a central defensive pair with no pace will struggle even in the championship, the defence plays deeper and either the midfield plays deeper as well leading to long ball hoof or the midfield plays higher and leaves a load of space between it and the defence for other teams to exploit.

It is a essentially a fundamental rule of modern football that to achieve success you need at least on CB with pace and one CF with pace in order to allow your midfield to play and your defence to play a high line. So as things stand its.

Stewart +1 until we sign a pacy centre half
