All i see in the press is about how fabio needs to go etc. which to an extent i agree with.
however like QPR, Englands players are also the problem. but it doesnt stop there.. you think how much sponsorship money our players (becks, rio, rooney, terry, gerrard, lampard etc) all make for the FA (and themselves).
lets turn the clocks back.
last england competitive match vs germany was the famous 5-1
England: Seaman, G Neville, Ferdinand, Campbell, A Cole, Barmby, Scholes, Gerrard, Beckham, Heskey, Owen.
looking back that match was in 2001. now lets compare against the two teams yesterday.
i have so many thoughts going round i cant actually get it out and onto here correctly but look at that 11 and the 11 yesterday.. hardly a new generation is it? 9 years on.
this country was never going to be near that trophy when you play your favourites for the sake of sponsorship and to please ego's.
if capello wants some serious respect. drop all the names.. get rid of em all and play the youngsters who have a future in international football.. not those who are there purely solely on their reputation.
its time for a complete overhall.. even if we miss some tournements.. we need to blood a new generation. germans did it and are likely to go on to win the WC.
capello is a good manager but when having that pressure to play gerrard, lampard and barry all in the same team.. its never gonna have a formation which will suit your strengths.
stop playing players for sake of their reputation and play those in a formation around your best player.
/end of rant
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"
For me the problem with English football is the never say die, we give 100%, roll our sleeves up attitude.
Their is no flair or creativity in english players these days. Who was the last player who could cut a team open with a skill or trick or with a pass only a arrogant skillful player would try? Gazza maybe? Until we get players like this again England will be a poor nation at football. The top world teams all ouze of skill and flair.
It goes down to grass roots. Kids are being told to clip channels, hoof it to the big lump upfront etc. They won't continue in the game if they can't have fun and play with a smile. When I was at youth level, I loved doing all the tricks and flicks copying players like ronaldinho and rivaldo. Apart from gazza maybe le tissier I had no english player to look up too for the way I wanted to play.
That's why for me QPR must do all we can to sign adel. These players are a special gift to the game, who could be the difference in struggling against algeria and usa and winning against them by 5 goals.
So if QPR had Adel and 5 players were unfit and or playing out of position, everything would be fine ?
Also, I must have watched a different game yesterday as Germany was not full of flair players, they were fitter, quicker and players were playing in their favored positions, who done the basic passing and movement extremely well.
Not just currant england players, we have had this apart from 1990, since 66"
Why do England command such fantastic support, probperbly the best supported international team in the world............its the fans who are world class, not the team,......England dont deserve those fans.
the English support is nothing on Croatia's, Serbia's etc.
Man United have the most amount of fans, but old trafford is like a libary...
id be ecstatic if all of them retired this week, and i mean that.
if they were proper men and not celebrity spotlight lovers, they would do the decent thing.
