Just heard there is £12m involved as he won't resign. Another blunder for the FA, I still don't know why they made him sign a contract before the World Cup I mean why not wait until afterwards to see how we did? He could had just walked now and not cost a penny, crazy world.

Think your all missing the point here, making capello a scapegoat for all those inept players dosen't cure the problem,no manager in the world could make that shower into world beaters,we need a radical overhaul of the premier league and all the young england players given more of a chance, training and development and untill that happens we continue to under perform on the big stage whoever is in charge, afterall our qualification was pretty impressive, you cant stick a plaster on a broken leg and expect it to improve, imo there isn't much better than Capello out there !!!

Capello made mistakes but the problems with English football goes back generations. Why is it that our young players play on full size pitches with full size balls? Why is it that are we more concerned with fitness than with ball work. The whole FA set up is wrong from the bottom of the system right up to the to the full England squad.
The likes of Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney are just as much to play for the farce as Capello is. Didn't Carlos Tevez play a full domestic season without a winter break and didn't he have to fly out to South America to play all of his International games whereas half of our matches are played here in England. I think someone like Tevez has more of an excuse to say he's tired than any of our lot but it's a typical excuse to cover up the real truths rather than looking into the real problems.
Sack Cappello and what install Harry Redknapp? Don't be silly.

The players are good enough. If they can't play as a team like the germans then the buck stops with the manager. For whatever reason he couldn't make them play as a team. We've tried best foreign coaches and its not worked. I would install english manager and allow him to completely revamp backroom staff if needed. These backroom coaches aren't up to the job either it would seem. Get someone like hodgson or redknapp in, someone who wants the job more than anything and will demand the same from his players. 5m a year to be england boss is ridiculous. Bobby robson would have done it for free. Pay the 12m and let's start again.

All these stories about pay offs are generaterd by journalists, who have no detailed knowledge of the contracts, multiplying the yearly assumed income by the term of the contract.
This is not how settlements are reached. It is senstaionalist journalism. There will be a payment if we sack him, unless a clause allows it for nowt (unlikely), but it will be no where near 12 million.
Also, Cappello is not the problem. There are 2 major tournies every 4 years. We have either not qualified, or failed, in every one since 1970.
The problem is that english footballand english footballers are not as good as we think they are.
The Premier League is the most popular in the world, nothing more. Anyone who says it is the "best" league in the world is not a football expert.

Not a great advert for the premiership that in the last 8....they couldn't even fill a team .
I think the premierhsip maybe the highest paid(wages wise)but certainly is not the best....player wise.
As poster has said above - apart from winning the World Cup in 1966....we have done zip, won zip and not ever really looked like winning zip.
The clubs have done well.....but that is due to foreign players in the team...not English or british.
Also p laying like a team helps.Player for player....our team is better than the USA.....but as a team...they played better than we did at this World cup....with J Demerit as their CB>>>>

Holland have five Premiership players - De Jong, Van Persie, Kuyt, Babel and Hetinga.
I completely understand and agree with your point though.

I am not saying that we are more technically gifted than most of top teams, more that englands strength is having solid defence and good man infront of back 4. Capello couldn't get this right, barry and upson are weak links in the team. But that doesn't mean we don't have world class players, gerrard, rooney, lampard, terry, ashley cole. None of them stood up to be counted, again the manages fault.
In England when a team plays well it seems that its always down to the players but when they play badly its the managers fault.
