Joe Cole should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

I agree, still a couple of players who ain't doing the business. Cole to start in place of Lampard

Nothing to do with this. It's been the opinion of many fans from the start of the WC. He gives us something extra IMO. I'd either have a 5 man midfield with Roo up top, or I'd drop either Frank or Barry as neither of them have warrented a start so far. Barry's passing has been aweful and Lampard has been insignificant in all three games. Joe Cole has proved throughout his career that he can mix it with the best. He's a huge part as to why Chelsea won the title and was one of very few players who could hold their head high from 2006.

he barely played last season so that's ########

yes he played well in 2006, but the player of the tournament for england was owen hargreaves so things change.

and he's a completely different player to barry so replacing barry with joe cole would just be ridiculous

i take your point Lampard hasn't played well, but is he ever likely to get dropped? He's probably better than Cole anyway

Really? They were very hit and miss without him. Statistically, most other years in the Prem, Chelsea would have been way behind by the time Cole got back to fitness. His return and his goal pulled them clear of Manure. Even his captain said all this too.

You miss the point regarding Barry too. Dropping him for Cole has nothing to do with similarities as Gerrard can go back to CM with Cole on the left. And I know it's unlikely to see Lampard dropped...All I'm going is stating what I'd do.

I'm just explaining that your comment Re: the media hype holds not weight as this has been my opinion from the off.

Sure, you may of had the opinion but for many people it is the media.

              remember the SUn headline:

              England
              Algeria
              Slovenia
              ####s

Let's be completely honest...that Sun headline was very clever and also realistic. We should have walked this group. This whole World Cup has been good for the bookies so far. France and Italy out without a win... We struggled. Spain lost to the Swiss and could easily go out tomorrow. No goals for Messi or RVP. Germany missed a penalty. It's had plenty of shocks and us finishing runners up wasn't nearly the biggest of all. We're still in it and we're unbeaten, unlike Spain and Germany. Brazil and Holland have hardly set the world alight either.
