Derry, whatever you say will not improve the team, maybe shout a lot but is past it...even a skint poor palace team didnt keep him.

Helgusson, really hedging your bets here in the HOPE that he turns good. He wants to and has only ever played well for Watford.

Clarke , even Warnock said he's a gamble

    Makie, average at best.

    Not good reading im afraid.
I agree in terms of promotion but it is what we have now subject to whatever NW brings in. Buzz had his best spell in my opinion drifting in from wide. He has had two poor seasons and he needs to pick things up this season to either earn a new contract here or get the best possible deal elsewhere. Same with Cookie really and NW has a reputation for getting the best out of players.

Legs isn't a full back but did put in some good performances in that position. Ideally I would hope NW will sign a decent right back and for that matter left back as Connolly is fine for cover but really needs to establish himself in centre this season.

On Derry we have woefully lacked leadership for a while and his reputation is he beings that in bucket loads on and off the pitch. Without that I fear too many of our players will go missing too often. He will also be playing alongside Faurlin who as well as being quality has a good engine on him.

Helguson is a confidence player. He had a good spell at Watford and NW may well be able to man manage him to get the best out of him. My ideal would be two new strikers of which at least one would be quality but would be happy with Helguson being given a run. Good at holding ball up, good leap and can bring others players into the game. I know nothing about Mackie but understand he has great pace and could be a good foil to a Helguson type player.

Get a grip. We have around 6 weeks to recruit players and we do need a few to be fair. However as work in progress I give you a team of:

      Kenny

      Legs Ramage Gorkks Connolly

      Buzz Derry Faurlin Cook

      Helguson Mackie

Subs from: Cerny, Stewart, Hogan, Rowlands, Clarke, Hall, Agyemong, Vine, couple of youngsters and some obvious ones my addled brain has mislaid.

That is not a promotion team but is enough to stay out of trouble. Bulk out squad, get another striker or two, full backs and another centre back and it starts to look possible play off.

I thought Ramage looked decent at centre back at tail end of season and has great attitude, Derry I believe will offer vital leadership despite the stick many are giving him. NW will also have the opportunity to try and get likes of Buzz and Cook playing consitently well. At their best they are amongst the best of their type in this division and for me make or break season for both so plenty of incentive. Helguson looked good at ****ford and no reason he can't do well for us. NW could even get Hall playing well, he was good enough for Newcastle last season after all and they ran away with the league.

      It's not all bad, really!
do you actually go to any games Furtive?
spin it all you want but as it stands we are considerably weaker than last season
you cant rely on the likes of Helguson and Hall suddenly playing well for us after the crap they have dished up in a hooped shirt
we shouldnt be looking "to stay out of trouble"
with the ticket prices as they are and the expectation they have built and the financial backing we have we should be Title contenders!
why gamble on doing it cheaply when they could inject a few million to ensure success?

          Post of the week!
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Last season we badly underperformed with the players we had. We now have a very good manager who will have had a full pre-season to prepare.

Yes we should be looking at doing more than staying out of trouble. My point was the team we have is good enough to do that. NW has another 6 weeks or so to add new faces and I have no doubt he will. Depending who he brings in we may well be good enough to be challenging for play offs.

For me last season was a dire write off and we are having to start from scratch. That means NW will have to sign some unfashionable squad players in addition to hopefully some quality. He will also have to revisit some of those who underperformed last season and get them playing the way they can.

We have no right to be title contenders. Yes our owners are wealthy but in Championship terms we are a small club and have London overheads. That is why NW is probably working within a tight budget, albeit larger than it would be without the owners' support.

This is scarily true.... Reading it in black & white makes it all the more depressing.

I want to disagree with him but I can't.

If england go out of the world cup I will have even more time on my hands to study the shi te that is coming in and the lack of ambition.

I think I will be playing plenty of golf on my sat's next season, can't bear the thought of watching derry and hill kicking lumps out of the opposition. Bring in some quality to play alongside Clarke ffs.
Im Sorry weareqpr, I dont mean to make your blood boil but this is how it is.. Same old rubbish different faces at the top.

Why cant we take the Norwich/Leeds even Forest approach that signing quality will improve our team, instead of the Gamble...We always take the cheap gamble..

In my trade we say you buy cheap, you buy twice. Rather than getting Earnshaw or Hooper last season, we have gone through Helgusson, Clarke, Simpson, Vine, Aggymang, Pelicorri, Di Carmine the list is endless.

I've got to agree with everything you say there Jeffro, and if Neil thinks this is good enough to get us in to the prem then god knows what he thinks will be good enough to stay there if we ever do go up, and that's a big 'If we ever'

Never thought of that, I bet if we went up we would just sign players from the relegated sides like Bolton and Wigan.

I hate the fact that people HAVE to agree with me on this but it pains me to say I am right.

We have accepted our star signing is a 32 year old drug taking, fighting keeper.
