  • England Team For Tomorrow Night.

the beeb just said they have heard from the camp that this is the side to start tomorrow night.

    james
    cole terry carragher johnson
    gerrard (c) barry lampard lennon
    rooney heskey.

thought he couldnt start green again, that team should win at least 2 or 3 nil.
    cant wait for it.
friday night watching england in the wrold cup in the sun, dont get much better than that when the R's are on holiday..

    Oh great.

The donkey is upfront, Gerrard is out of position, Carragher and Terry have no pace(should be Dawson and Terry), and Joe Cole is on the bench.

Don't rate Capello's team selections at all.

its only algeria tho, let them play mediocre and still get an easy win and sven might have a change around.

I'm sure Spain were thinking "its only Switzerland".

At a World Cup you play your best team, and you play your best players in their best positions, especially when you only drew your first game.

Capello, IMO, is over rated as England manager by a lot of people.

And by the way, Sven isn't manager anymore.

but the donut thinks that is his best team.
thats why im saying, let them beat them but not play well and he might be forced into playing cole and crouch. git me?

Yes I get you, but I think its worrying that we are at a WC and our manager seems to be the only person in the country who would pick that team.

He shouldn't need to see another 1-0, 2-1 win vs a crap team to realise he hasn't picked our best XI.

Why on earth would he play Gerrard wide right?

Heskey is probably out best option up front if playing two. I think Gerrard up there would be better, with Joe Cole left and Lennon right.

                    100% in agreement.

Take a great midfielder - shove him out wide to become a good left sided player...who fails to track back for Ashley Cole

But its the Crarragher inclusion that piffes me off the most.Slow , carthorse and slow.Terry is good defender - but needs a bit of pace next to him.By all accounts Dawson has been the best CH this season.....and yes DoN Kee up front.

Donkey this, best player played out of position that, yada, yada, yada.

with the exception of Carragher for Terry, it's the same line up that p*ssed the qualifying group. Gerrard is NOT playing wide left. he starts wide left, with license to drift in. much like Messi does. nobody thinks that Messi's playing left wing do they?

and Heskey may be the biggest donkey in the world, but as we've seen already both in this tournament and in the qualifying campaign, his hold up play and work rate are phenomenal. if what we're going to be playing is essentially a 4231 formation, we need the best hold up man we've got, which is Heskey, NOT Rooney or Crouch.

This formation would be the one that capello would have played had Barry been fit for the USA game, unquestionably.
RUN, MWEPU, RUN! CHARGE FORTH AND BOOT THAT BALL DOWNFIELD MY BOY, YOU MAGNIFICENT CHAMPION YOU!

                        Few things wrong there.

Number 1, we p*ssed the qualifying group yes, but we did not come up against the same quality of teams like we will at the WC, fact.

Number 2, why are you comparing Messi on the wing to Gerrard on the wing? Messi is a winger who likes to drift in, where as Gerrard is a CM who is being shoved out on the wing.

Number 3, why do we need a hold up man? Why do we need to smash the ball up to Heskey? Spain don't do it, Argentina don't do it, Brazil don't do it. We should play J Cole on the left, Lennon right with Lampard and Barry in the middle, Rooney upfront with Gerrard just behind. Get the ball down and play football, don't rely on Heskeys flick on which arn't always effective and are hard for Rooney to read.

Just to add, where did our goal come from vs the USA? Of all the headers Heskey won, how many of them went to an England player? How many lead to an attack?

Here's "big Emile" going up for a header vs the USA.
