Faurlin arguably our best player, Buzz with a good pre-season could be great again. If we sign Ambrose as well we will have a glut of central midfield players. Rowly due back, Legs (rumours aside), Mahon (admittedly probably off).

Anyway I have faith in NW. One of his key tasks in my book is to toughen us up. If we sign Hill as well we may well have the nasty cloggers we need to work alongside our showier players and give kicks and encouragement as necessary.
I'd say he's been signed(?) purely as a leader, on and off the pitch. A captain.
Probably replacing Mahon in terms of football/position.

According to almost every Palace fan, he does a fantastic job on and off the pitch... and they're sorry to see him go, and all wish him well, even if he comes to nasty old QPR.

That says a lot to me.

Well Warnock said a couple more over the next couple of weeks, so Derry being one and Hill the other.

Relax, all the good players are coming in July... the lesser players come first.

Derry's a decent player, think we lacked a player of his ilk when we went on that shocking run.
I can't see issue with Stead either. He's ex prem and will get goals with decent service

is derry really that bad? i personally dont think we need him, if we have mahon - but Derry may be more valuable than we think. people have never seemed to like Mahon, but i have always rated him. hes not a flair player, so people just look passed his qualities, but he leads the team, and keeps the game simple, whilst adding experience. These qualities are very valuable

Rowly and Mahon were a big loss to us last season. If Derry is a similar type than fine. We've missed an "injury free" Stevie Palmer type player tbh for years now.

A good signing I think and as he knows exactly what NW wants, he will get it from other players as well.

The biggest problem that QPR have had over the last few season is lack of character on the pitch. It was so obvious to NW I am sure. Kenney, Derry; just what we need in my opinion. Both good signings for QPR.

As a player, he's certainly no better than Mahon or Rowlands. He's ok, but not a great player.
But as a leader/captain, he's so highly thought of at Palace, it's unreal.

Reminds me of Steve Palmer a few years back. He was pretty average as a player, and kept better players out of the side... but without his leadership and influence on and off the pitch, I honestly don't think we'd have gone up that season.

I was going to use the example of Dunga, for Brazil... but that would have been pushing it, a bit!
                        I'll stick with Palmer.

we won the race to sign a-past-it midfielder who is WORSE than what we already have.

well thats all we're winning this year
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
                          Lovejoy: "No?!"

It was noticable that our form dipped when we lost Mahon last season.Another player who fans were quick to turn on.

Last season we had the flair talents of Taarabt - Buzz - Maybe even include Cookie or faurlin....Our stiffness on the pitch() had gone.Rowly and mahon were missed Legs was wooden. We need to stiffen up the midfield if we are going to release our flair players(when we get them)

Easy to say that now but when hes sitting in front of the back four breaking up attacks, keeping the ball, keeping possession and barking orders out to the rest of the team(everything L'gwood doesnt do) you wont be moaning then imho.

i dont rate mahon that highly.. but mahon can do that and is a better footballer than derry. derry against us and against sheff wed was abysmal.

there are alot of better younger players who can do that job than him.

                                best example:

robbie savage.. unlike derry he kept taraabt under wraps against us.
