Weareqpr - it appears to be a very debated subject in pubs at moment.

Capello has gone on record stating that he only wanted to take players on current form....so he takes Heskey, who does not start on a regular basis at Villa.

The other theory i love, is this, Rooney plays better with Heskey. This season, Manchester Utd have mainly played 4-5-1 with Rooney being the sole striker. This season has been his best return for goals...with no second striker up front.Yet we persist on this, he can only play with Heskey. Why not play him in same role that has been so fruitfull with Utd - rather depending on an overrated, poor goalscoring,i fall over when you blow me, second rate lumbering 3rd choice premiership striker.?
Probably why other international teams don't take us seriously, as we are still leaving in the 1950's under walter Winterbottom with our big man up front tactics.
That said - squad has been picked and i of course will give all my support, but i don't buy into this theory..(In my opinion....!!)

I'm shocked that only two people think Brazil have a chance. The bookies aren't often wrong and they are joint favourites.

I think Brazil's side of the draw is much easier than Spain's.

Of course they have a good shout mate. For the 1st time in years, not only do they have two very good CB's, but also (maybe the 1st in decades) they have a top class keeper in Cesar. Even Gomes has had a fantastic season. The main reason I'm on the fence about them is that they aren't great in attack. Other than Luis Fabiano, I don't see them pose any threat in front of goal. Pato is class, but I still think he's a way off being a World Cup star and Robinho is useless if he decides he's not up for it. I think leaving Adriano and Ronaldinho was a big mistake.

          agree!
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

With all due respect to them, they only scored 33 goals in 18 games. That's less than 2 goals per game. Granted, it only takes one goal to win a game, but that's not exactly fantastic. Their defence was vital though...Only 11 conceeded in that period. As strikers, you fear coming up against the European defences, far more than those of the South American and Asia. Europens are notoriously stronger and harder to get by.

That's how I see it, anyway.

Having just read the book by Mark pooogatchh...three Lions V the World, there is always high expectations on any Brazilian side.Sometimes they are over hyped.Argentina / Uruguay have always come a poor second.England invented the game and Brazil refined it.

Argentina/Brasil/Spain...will all look good on the eye and i can honestly say I am looking forward to this world cup as a footballing spectacle.

Can England win? Who could have predicted Greece winning Euro champs 2004? Italy and german will bore us to death, but I expect them to be latter stages.England will frustrate and Holland will flatter.

I have completed my Paninini book and looking forward to Friday night.

cant see the hype about argentina.. saw two games and they was woeful..

spain are favs but i never back a favourite or QPR/England for that matter. so outside chance i reckon france.. got a feeling they will rally round and play some good stuff. plus they are 20/1 to win

France and Portugal will flop IMO. Argentina have the best selection of forwards...not that I feel they'll win it, just that they can't be ignored.

                        Pato wasn't selected.

I think having won the Confed Cup in SA already they will have the knowledge and experience of playing out there. They might not have scored freely in qualify but they destroyed all in their path in the Confed Cup.
