  • Cumbrian Tragedy - Black Armbands

Do you think the England should all wear black armbands for the opening game of the World Cup if not the whole tournament to remember the victims? I think it would be a nice touch! Maybe even something in referance to that part of the world?

No, it's terrible for those involved but where do you draw the line. People die every day, more people die every day in road traffic accidents - should we put a black armband on for them as well? I find these kind of gestures a bit crass to be honest - why is someone more special for dying in a certain way over another person who died of something else? Don't give the publicity to the killer.

What happened in Cumbria was a terrible tragedy, but no, no armbands worn by England players please.
If the Americans were to become as sensitive as some of todays Brits, they'd be wearing black armbands so often, we'd be forgiven for thinking they were part of the #### kit.
Oh, and the Mrs says, it's bad enough that ITV have cancelled Coronation Street, and just as it was getting interesting too.
