Okay, I know its early and I suspect by the start of the new season we will have a completely new fresh side, but I suspect it won't be about spending money on it.
I am under no illusions that the board are putting all their eggs into one basket in firmly believing that Neil Warnock is the best signing they could ever have. The only reservation I have, come Christmas if Plan A is yet again not working, will we rue the lessons that we have not learn't from previous seasons??
Its obvious we need a proven goalscorer, even two to make a concerted push for promotion.
Personally, I feel we are miles away from candidates for automatic promotion, have no more than a fairly good chance of the Play Offs. Teams that get out of this division automatically do so with a sizeable budget, others can do it on a team spirit like Burnley and Blackpool have shown in previous seasons. The problem with that, the way our board and support is structured we expect more, to me I'm guessing we are a long way off feeling united behind the club, even though we are far better position under Amit, ishan and co, than we ever were under Flavio. The Likes of Burnley and Blackpool come with a underdog tag, so promotion to their fans is a bonus, to us we seem to expect it due to the rich people we have behind the club.
The problem I have with Warnock is he is a very good salesman type of manager, if we the fans were not led to believe we would investing heavily in players, we would have taken it on the chin and accept it.
When you hear comments like " I can't wait to end of season, when i get the players I want" and then you get Mackie and Clarke then obviously fans feel a little cheated. I would much prefer the club just to get on with it and actually surprise us with a buy, then we can all be excited.
I guess this summer will see a number of incomings and outgoings but I do not expect us to break the bank, in fact I see all backing to the manager in the belief he is the man for the job, time will tell if they have got it right.
