CPFC 2010 close on Selhurst Park deal

    Tuesday, 01 June 2010

    By Richard Cawley

ADMINISTRATOR Brendan Guilfoyle has told the South London Press that the consortium looking to buy Crystal Palace are close to striking a deal to buy Selhurst Park.

And the administrator has also confirmed that he has put the block on player sales - as he now discusses CPFC 2010 starting to fund the running of the club.

The consortium issued a statement yesterday urging Lloyds Bank, who are the company who own Selhurst Park, to agree a deal to sell them the ground. Over 2,500 supporters are demonstrating outside the bank's headquarters in central London.

And Guilfoyle says that "substantial progress" has been made.

He said: "My impression is that they are there or thereabouts. I understand Lloyds are due to make a statement later this afternoon."

    More to follow.

Thought they'd already confirmed it pretty much?

You know part of me welcomes this news, might make our board top acting like a bunch of vultures and start paying the market value for the sort players we need to get promotion.

I think this block on player sales will only be temporary. Even if the buyout by CPFC 2010 goes ahead they will need to balance the books to pay overdue wages and bring themselves out of admin and I very much doubt the consortium has the capital at hand to do that in the short term!

If Ambrose does not come it will not be too disappointing, he's not as good as we are letting ourselves believe. We cannot pin our promotion hopes on one player, yes he had a good season last year, but it could be a one off. We may feel we have lost out to Palace, and they might feel they have one up over us, but we'll get over it and move on.

If Palace consortium reach a successful outcome with Lloyds, they will block all sales of players. So it looks like no Ambrose for us, oh well lets move on and look for someone else.

Do people really think Speroni, Danns, Clyne and Ambrose will be at Selhurst Park next season. The consortium did not want them sold when the administrator was in charge, as his views on where the money goes, will be different to CP2010's.

They will now tell the fans that the club is safe but they need to sell a few players to put the club on level footings ....................... etc, etc.

That may be the case, but if they sell they will ask for more money for their players than the administrator, who just wanted to pay off wages etc.

You know part of me thinks this is half the reason why we brought Warnock to the club, so we can go back in there and pick up their best players on the cheap.

We certainly have form for doing this just look at the Buzsaky, Gorkks, Routledge deals for instance. We do seem to like a contract release clause as well, typical Rangers.

Good luck to Palace, hope they slap a 3 million price tag on Ambrose now, maybe it'll make our board wake up and stop doing things by halves otherwise drop ST prices and lower expectation levels.

Exactly. Not being funny. Look at the Palace team. No really outstanding players if anything were punching above their weight due to Warnock getting the best out of them. Ambrose had a great season last year granted, but before then what had he done, not a lot. There are better players around.

They might still sell players but it will be under the new management, also it will probably be at market prices. Have to admit though, £750k for Ambrose was cheap, he's worth a lot more than that. Never mind lets move onto the next
