Although he made some monumentously poor decisions when he was in charge, most namely employing a succession of poor managers, he invested and backed his managers.

I remember when he came in , we went out and signed Gavin Pea**** and John Spencer from Chelsea, both of whom had excellent scoring records and were proven premiership players.

That season, I wholly believe if we had got Curbs in as manager with Spencer, Sheron and Pea****, Sinclair etc, we would have been promoted back to the Premiership.

Why cant Our new Owners just take that gamble and sign the equivilent of Spencer and Pea**** in todays market as with Neil Warnock we have the right manager to bring the best out in them!

Crickey, don't EVER praise that bufoon. Chris Wrong is a major reason why we had those dark, dark times at QPR - overspending without the ability to fund that overspend leading to Administration, relegation and ABC.

Pea**** and Spencer were bought with the money raised when floating the club, i.e. yours and mine.

IMO Chris Wright is 0.5% away from being a "proper" crook (Admin, BDO, Hocking, Sudbury, Twyford etc..... reneging on promises on % ages paid to the Club when Sudbury was sold) - his "crime" sheet is long and extensive and is the reason we found ourselves in the sh1te AND by association with Blackburn and Davies, the reason why we are still saddled with divide and conquer Paladini to this day.

Peac*ck and Spencer are ancient history, from a different era.
How many players who've started more than a handful of Premier League games have stepped down to this division lately??
Never mind players who've played 100+ games for Chelsea!

Times have changed, even since 1996/7.

Merson and Sheringham to Pompey.
Chris Coleman, Lee Clarke etc.. to Fulham.
Even going back as far as Keegan to Newcastle.
Marquee Signings for a 2nd Division club.

It doesn't happen anymore.
Even average prem players like Kitson and Beattie are on wages that make it nice and easy for them to sit on the bench on 40k per week, and wait for someone like Hull, Wigan or Stoke to come knocking.
To footballers these day... you are either a Premier League player - or you are nothing.
The wages gap is massive, and so is the status gap. It's gone crazy.


So we hold up Scunnys striker, or Palaces 'keeper as our big targets.
We can't realistically hope for better than those two.
That's the way football has gone.

Im not for one second saying Chris Wright was a decent chairman, he wasnt, he was a **** but all im trying to say is that Spencer was quality because we bought a proven striker. Premiership names now that would be the same would be:

Anichebe - Everton
Either of Pompeys front line - piqueene - dindane
Jemes Beattie

For us, or any CCC club.
It just wont happen. These blokes are not interested in anything other than top flight football... and they are so loaded these days, that no amount of money the likes of QPR throw at them will change that.

If that level of player is the only thing that would pacify you... then prepare yourself for major dissapointment.
They don't drop to the second division for a few bob.


Hooper, Ambrose, Taarabt, Clyne, Speroni, Henderson etc... That's the level you have to accept, or don't.

Missing the point I am making, I am simply saying that we SPENT back then. In my other post I mention CW is a C**T so hardly praising him is it??
