I actually think Leon Clarke might be ok but he is definately a big gamble.
We need a Henderson in the squad and other options upfront.

Nope. As said on another thread we need more than that, and by the tone of your question I think you agree. It wd be asking a hell of a lot of a Beatie, Kitson or Hooper. And as I suspect we are more likely to end up with a Hulse or a Henderson I'd say it wd be virtually impossible. Even if he plays 4-5-1 with a flair, attacking midfield I think he needs at least two if not three more strikers of real quality.

Why cant we just set a target, one that isnt a gamble, one that will complement the poor signings made already. We have wasted enough on gambles in the last 5 years to have signed Steven bloody Gerrard.

Pay decent money for a decent proven striker, there is NO gamble then.

hooper and henderson plus what we have and I would be happy but 3 more would be better if we can get rid of more deadwood. Aygemang and vine go and 3 need to be brought in.

Be very pleased to have Simpson back but if it is just him then how are we any stronger up front than last season when we narrowly avoided relegation? V debatable whether Mackie and Clarke in for Vine And Helguson is a significant improvement.

If we only get one more striker in, then forget automatic promotion. The play-offs are all we can hope for. Warnock described Clarke as a "gamble", so how can he be the target man that he wants. Mackie is unproven as the main goalscorer, so we need two top quality strikers to push for automatic promotion.
