  • Stars of the World Cup

Excluding the obvious (Messi, Torres, Ronaldo, Rooney, Kaka) which players do you think will shine at the world cup?

Are there any players that you think we (as fans not QPR) should look out for? Which England player IYO will make the most unexpected impact?

My predicted star of the world cup is Cha Du-Ri - okay he is 29 and never played for a top European side but after watching him against Ivory Coast in the friendly at LR I think he has the attributes to have a very good World Cup. South Korea could do very well in this tournament.

As for England players I think Lennon is going to make a big impression on the World Stage. His pace is frightening and if he breaks into the box defenders won't be able to touch him.

    Higuan - Argentina
    Aaron Lennon - England
    Mesut Ozil - Germany
    Luis Suarez - Uraguay
    Angel Di Maria - Argentina
    Marek Hamsik - Slovakia
    Charlie Davies - USA

Higuan is one of my tips for golden boot.

Gourcuff has potential to be a big player if France don't mess it up early on.

Saurez for Uruguay has banged them in this season.

Good question. Though I don't thionk there are many surprise packages left in world football these days. We all see so much of all nations (even playing here) that it is unlikely someone will come right out of the blue. It also needs his nation to go past the group stages to really get noticed and I think the likelihhod of that being emerging nations is pretty slim this time round.

One to watch is who can fill ballack's shoe's - can they find a new tournament winner. Bayern's Schweinsteiger (sp) perhaps? Only a kiddie but him and Robben could be a better midfield pairing going forward than our own golden boys. I hope Xabi Alonso emerges as the real star player for Spain. He doesn't seem to get the credit he deserves. Schneijder doing well may not bew much of a surprise but if Holland get a run (and I think they will) he could get the golden boot.

I don't think Lennon will get a game tbh. I think that's wrong I'd like him to. But all signs are he won't.

Think Gourcuff (France) jerome botang and Ozil (Germany) hernandez (Mexico) Jesus navas (Spain) chillieni (Italy) affelay (holland) Di maria (argentina) alexis Sanchez (chile) suarez (uruguay) could all have "breakthrough" world cups and become established on the world stage.

As for England can see Crouch doing well, with his record at international level he always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

Suaraz is class mate. The American lad is a bit good too. He'll get more than their main man IMO. Good shout on Gourcuff too. I left all French out as I feel they'll flop though.

Iniesta is Spains main man, but he's no surprise star. Robben is class too, but again, no surprises there.

I think Lennon will get plenty of playing time over there. He's going to cause a lot of problems.

Nah - Xabi mate. Iniesta is class and better going forward but Xabi is the one that allows the others to play. See - this is what I mean about him being under-appreciated!

Hope you're right about Lennon. Going forward he is the best option. But I don't think so. Capello hasn't shown much of a liking for him and will probably stick with whoever starts out tere first (unless it goes wrong at group stage). That will put him a way down the pecking order. We'll see.

Benny, dont think Iniesta is better then Xavi.....Xavi best midfielder in the world IMO. Iniesta class as well and probably out of them 2 for worlds best midfielder but I would go Xavi, watching him for years I can not think of one time when he gave the ball away, and I am being serious I cant think of a time lol.

Ahh just read that back, Alonso stanley was talking about not Xavi......Alonso class as well. All 3 of them jesus imagine a midfield of them 3, thats why fabrigas cant get a sniff.

For me, Iniesta is the best player on the planet, full stop.

Ivory Coast for me. Egypt aren't even in it. Algeria beat them in the playoff.

Robsondinho - yes I meant Xabi but Xavi is a truly class act as well. But I said Xavi as I think Xabi is more widely already known to be a star. (My head is starting to hurt) Personally I think Liverpool's fall from form this year is almost entirely due to losing Xavi.

Spain aren't too bad up front either I hear. Defence aint bad if they ever ger exposed!
