You dont' need star names to get promoted, but a good team ethic with a good bunch of players all fighting for the same cause?

I make the point as it seems unless we buy names, its assumed we won't make a challenge for promotion

I'd guess when Blackpool fans looked at their squad at the beginning of the season, they would have been happy to avoid relegation.

By placing faith in Neil Warnock who has the same kind of passion similar to Holloway, should we just totally trust him?

Dont forget they had a player of Charlie Adams class to build the team around. 19 league goals and countless assists from CM. We dont have anyone even close to his ability, even Faurlin (1 goal) isn't as valuable to the team as Adam is.

Both teams mentioned play great football,Ollie has totally changed hie ideas on the game. He used to remind me of a Warnock type manager but now his team plays the game on the floor , also what has he done to Evat? can't believe its the same player, i'd rather him than Gorkss and who would have thought that at the start of the season?

When you look at our team of the 90's, not many of them were marquee signings. Clive Wilson, Andy Sinton, Les Ferdinand, Simon Barker, Ian Holloway, Darren Pea**** etc. What they had was a good manager in Gerry Francis.

And they still did a bloody good job though. Can see why some on here are largely underwhelmed with Mackie and Clarke but think they are underestimating the ability of Neil Warnock to get these type of players working for the badge - which is what we've been lacking for some time now and it has to be said, with some fancy-dan names in the squad who couldn't give a monkeys.

Fans on here would think about slitting their wrists if we bought someone for 500K...Oh, we just did!

burnley had eagles. Does spending money like nottingham forest and buying good players show it can get you near the top (3rd)?

Both sides though had fantastic team unity.

You don't get that with a side stuffed to the gills with mercenary loan signings who couldn't give a toss about the club.

                That is the true difference.

It's also down to the club sticking by the manager ,even when they may disagree

maybe because both teams didnt have ANY expectation of playoffs let alone promotion. at QPR we expect money spent and promotion.. which adds pressure

for years tho pete we have bought players because they became available.. and thats totally the wrong way to go about building a team.

its clear as day we need two fullbacks and id say at least 2 strikers added to the squad to consider ourselves. names arent important but quality is. clarke does not have the quality.. hopefully he will make me eat my words but i dont see it.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
                          Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

You may not need star names to go up, but you will certainly need them to stay there and become established.
