There have been a number of signings made based on performances against us, that was paladini's forte ; tommy Williams, ben Watson, etc I just hope it was warnock saying give a 4 yr deal out and not paladini in charge of contract negotiations otherwise we will be in trouble Terry!

I'd rather we forget speroni and stick with Cerny and then spend that money on a striker that is proven and doesn't have a record of 16 goals in 4 seasons. Take note of newcastle we need quality strikers not Strikers come left wingers.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

4 years is too long... especially for an unknown or for someone that has a poor record.

I will trust in Warnock as it's his team, I just hope though that Mackie works out and scores 10+ goals next season.

16 in 102 is one every 6 and a bit games aint it? (wrks out at 7 same as taraabt)
aint too terrible for a winger if hes putting the ball to the feet or head of the proper goalscorer to get his 20 and buz etc.

whats with all the "trust Warnock" comments?
trust is like respect, he's got to earn it first.
Lets see at Christmas whether the players he brings in are of sufficient quality to mount a credible promotion challenge....until then he is just another Paul Hart or Mick Harford wading his way through the shambles that QPR has become over the past couple of years. Maybe he can turn it round or maybe not...certainly not buying into this whole "Warnock the Messiah" bull that people keep spouting. After all the guy is a complete Colin and well known for being one too. Let him win you over with success dont just pull your knickers down and let him have a go.

Really all depends on what is written on the contract. If he's getting paid a packet of peanuts then you may as well give him a ten year contract.

Having players like Aygemang, hall and vine all sitting on 4 years contracts is a terrible thing that is very much part of modern day football.

I am not suprised clubs are going under when they have players sitting on the bench and earning vast amounts of money.

With all the examples of contract dealings by Gp for all the above players, is it really that shocking that GP's name has been mentioned Benny Strachan?
Listen mate, if you've got a problem with me, PM me and we'll sort it out. Stop acting like a child and resorting to silly, childish insults when someone doesn't agree with you. I'd have more respect if they were nasty taunts, or even funny, but they're not...they're just embarrassing and cringeworthy for you. You're over 30 years of age. Act like it. You're by far the most condescending little wind up I've ever met. At least TerryBall, Clunge and Paladiniooo have comical value to their jibes.

As I say...any problem you've got with me, be a man and tell me.

                It's like a f**king crechè on here.

Whilst I'm sure NW picks the players, when it comes to contracts and how many years I doubt he is getting final say on that. IMO 4 years is too much for someone who hasn't proved himself to be anything outstanding at this level, he may come good but it's a gamble and one we've lost far too often. I'm not going to sit here and slate people, time will tell if it was the right decision, would I have signed him no, would I recommend handing out 4 year contracts to someone like that no, but then Neil Warnock and the rest of the people running the football club should know a lot more about football than I do so hopefully I'll be proved wrong!

really bored by all this gp bashing stuff (and i speak as one who wants him to retire).

but on mackie im puzzled by a 4 yr contract unless as stated it is on v low wages.

on the point about his goalscoring record my understanding is he is a striker, not a winger, he just happens to be left footed. can anyone confirm this? if so his scoring record is pretty poor.

Sorry for calling people 'deluded', for not 'constructing' my post and, most of all for not agreeing that a 4 year contract is a good thing...

But, still think you have to move with the times; we are much more likely to be stuck with Mackie after 3 years than be fighting off Barcelona
for his signature. If he does get good and wants to leave two years in, do you think we'd be able to keep him anyway?

No Dav, but that's exactly what my point is. Go on a free due to being out of contract, or get a fee for him?

its a difficult balance. gorks goes out of contract and we've lost an asset; agyman stays on contract and we're stuck with a liability. its a guessing game, but it does seem on the long side for a player of his poor record.

The difference is and I'm happy to believe this is that its now Warnock making those decisions not Paladini.

Warnock is not going to assemble a mismatch of players brought to him by agents is he. Not only that after we make all our summer signings we will have 12 scouts identifying targets for the January Sales.

W12 Ranger in your honest opinion, do you think players like Mackie and Clint Hill are players that should be in a side chasing for promotion? I won't compare us to Newcastle because they dropped down a division and kept hold of there premiership players, however West Brom are a good mold to follow. The difference is west brom don't charge around 600 quid for a season ticket and they can attract big named players. If we are serious about promotion I just hope you are right and we actually get the cheque book out because surely now we have realised that we can't do it on the cheap ie Mackie 500k and clint hill free, by all means go for the value for money but then back it up with a massive signing that will attract players back to LR. Unless we keep shying away from the kitsons/beattie's and then miss out on the hoopers I don't see anything but a mid table finish. Benny no hard feelings mate and I was wrong to name call. We both want whats best for our club I just get fed up with underwhelming dull signings.
