It is not that we are really a team of underachievers more that the standard of the CCC is not really that great and with some consistency the Play Offs should be easily achievable. The truth is we'd probably have made the Play Offs under Sousa this season, shame a few can't admit it.

When we are talking about expenditure and spending big in particular on strikers then with actually talking about Top 2.

I agree. QPR were not that far off a play off position, which says a lot about the lack of real quality outside of the top 2.

Had QPR signed a recognised striker in pre-season, or even Hooper in August, QPR could have finished in the top 6.

If you want another season of mid table mediocrity, then sign your Hill's, Harte's and Stead's of the world.

I'd also point out that as well as Blackpool have done they are still rank outsiders to go up. Think the squads or Cardiff or Forest - neither of whom are guaranteed promotion - are a much more useful template for us to emulate.

Why sign freebies and CCC players who simply wont survive in the quality of the premiership??
Its horses for courses surely - IF promotion is attained, then plan for the next level - CCC players for CCC and prem players for prem. One step at a time.

but i also recall another post by sir pie listing everyone who has signed for qpr after the takeover - one mediocre player after another. it begged the question "why did anyone ever think these players wd be good enough". v happy with good free players like tosic an voltz but you can actually waste more money on rubbish, as agyman etc illustrates.

Yes but if the rumours are true that in days gone by these mediocre players were signed for the manager not by the manager then the manager would be expected to play a system around what he was provided with rather than buying player for the system he wishes to play, and I totally agree that we need to spend some serious money if we want to get a striker who will get the fans blood up, but last summer if we said we were signing Fryatt, you can imagine the moaning that would of gone on.

I think in most cases in this game its teams that are successful not individuals (obviously there are exceptions to the rule but thats the point they are the exception)
