Agree with that but at least a) there does seem to be some kind of budget to sign players of the necessary standards and b) we seem to be linked with, in the main, sensible signings - OK we can all have an opinion on whether people like Clint Hill are worth signing (I'm far from convinced) but at least they are players who know what they are doing in the championship rather than the di carmine type nightmares we had last season.

depends who we get instead. if we sign a beattie or a maynard it wont be the end of the world. we aren't the only club out there, and we certainly aren't the biggest. some of our targets will go elsewhere, its a fact of life. at least i can't see a repeat of the deadline day debacle when we were told we had just upped our bid for hooper and then the s****horpe chairman announced we hadn't even made a first bid, let alone a second.

Hooper would be tops.. really praying on this deal !!Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
And many more mistakes
LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

From what i was being told before the weekend was that if Palace had of been relegated then it was likely you would have got about 2 or 3 of our players, but now we have stayed up and new ownership hopefully not so far away these players such as Danns, Speroni, Ambrose, and Clyne are likely to stay with Palace.

With at least 4 clubs serious about Hooper I can't see anything being near a 'done' deal, when a player is wanted / in demand he can wait weigh up offers etc. Can't see them just going with the first offer. Wouldn't look to much into this at all. Hoping its true though.

It could also be from voices within or something like that. Quite scary if you ask me??QPR
