Couple of Man U fans coming with me on Sunday want to watch their game at Sunderland. Normally go to Connie but no Sky there either.

Breaks my heart to think how the crown has changed for the worse!! Best thing on the menu used to be a sausage in a roll or peanuts! Now you get overpriced Thai that jeremy and jemima can quoff while perusing the guardian in their all year round flip flops!$

Makes me laugh when people slate the Crown & Sceptre yet bang on about shitholes like The White Horse, Conningham & British Queen. C & S is one of the best pubs in Shepherds Bush and has been for years, maybe if those slating it actually drunk in Shepherds Bush other than matchdays your opinions would be valid.

/.../ many inner city London areas like Shep.Bush has become gentrified and for the better. Pubs like the revamped Greyhound, Adelaide, Princess Vic, Defectors Weld & C&S are good for the area, if you don't like it find a working mans club /.../.

C&S is a good boozer and a comfortable place to watch the football, it is not full of toffs either, just normal people who don't wish to be surrounded by knuckle draggers whilst enjoying a pint.

Just to add I watched a couple of Rangers games in the C&S this season (Watford & West Brom) on SKY and thought it was fantastic to be surrounded by so many Rangers fans who live locally for once and no Chelsea or *** supporting ****s. Thai Kitchen went down very well after a days work (obviously not as good as a sausage roll and some peanuts) and the atmosphere was brilliant for the West Brom game would advise it to any locals when The Superhoops are on the box.

Totally agree W12. I used to live a few doors away and spent many long nights working out how to construct a contraption to take me straight from my flat to the beer garden. Then again I maybe biased as soon after it's makeover (about 8 years ago???) I wangled my way into a party upstairs where all kind of 'entertainments' were on offer and where two of the bar girls appeared to be particularly enamoured with each other.

                            I'll second that.
The Crown & Sceptre was my local for donkey's years. A beautiful Victorian/Edwardian boozer where little had changed since the day my Grandad was treated to his first pint on his fifteenth birthday!!!! Those were the days
Now look at it, just one more gastro pub in a sea of many, bland, soulless, contemporary, with a clientele mainly made up by those who are ludicrously described as being, "young professionals."

I prefer a boozer that is wall to wall tension where a savage brawl can break out at any moment. I love it when you cant get in the bogs for Burberry clad chav's having a nose up and everyone uses phrases like "muggy c*nts and jog on".
