Leigertwood, with over 125 appearances for the R's in which he's completed nearly 16 passes to a team-mate, said:-

"It was great to be offered a huge 4 year deal by Gianni just before all the changes at the top. I signed it straight away but in the wrong place at first - once they sorted that out with some tippex and I made sure there was no-one around just me and a big crayon, I was fine".

When asked about fans comments that the team lacked leadership this season both on and off the pitch Mikele mumbled something about the fat Italian with the mad hair always took care of that and that Gianni could vouch for it. Neil Warnock was not available for comment at the time of our interview due to something along the lines of a mammoth task in finding 12 players to replace the dross the mafia had signed in the last few years.

Plus bonuses for passing to a team mate now and then

If Leigertwood was given a 4 year deal on £17K pw then it really is shocking.

He is not good enough to have even been given a new contract, let alone one with those terms.

He will be nigh on impossible to move on.

stanistheman - spot on. He is not worth it. We'd've been able to do much better with £17k a week. He has got an air of a teachers pet about him with the many managers that have drifted thru. Don't get it. They can't be blind to his mediocrity on a match day.

Depends what sort of season he has next year, he's part of the plans and has a massive role to play so who knows maybe Warnock will get the best out of him.

IMO I think his best position is right back, although I know the majority prefer him as centre midfield.
