    August6,2006 Sunday Mirror
    LIVING IN FEAR
Contract killer threat forces QPR chairman to wear a bullet-proof vest GIANNI PALADINI EXCLUSIVE- Anthony Clavane

“ I feel like a dartboard. People are always throwing darts at me. We have an enemy within. What kind of people do these things? How can you be a QPR fan when you put this s**t in? Paladini also suspected foul play when one newspaper reported last week that Rangers players were turned away from their training ground because the rent had not been paid.
He blasted “ This did not happen. I have a statement showing we paid Imperial College, who we rent the ground from, £32,250 on 18 July. How can they shut it for non-payment two weeks after paying the rent? Its insane. There were people from a QPR fan group outside the training ground at 7.20a.m, putting it out that the players had been locked out. But people were asleep at that time. The palyers didn’t go in until 10am. They put out so much s**t, so much rubbish, that I just give up “.
I took a phone call from one of my staff this morning at 6.50 telling me the office was locked - the cow woke me up. When I arrived at 9.45 everyone was working away and my coffee was waiting for me on my desk - together with a note from said employee asking for a pay rise.

Sadly, by the time the real world opened and started working the press had all moved on because the "YCS offices not open for business story" was off the front page.

No doubt the Friday headlines in the papers will be about something far more interesting, like Becks has another tattoo or Posh gains a couple of ounces - anyways, moving on

I have to say, I don't have a clue on what the correct version of events are - but I think it has been blown way out of proportion. Even Dave Thomas put in one of the AKUTR's a few weeks ago that the ironic thing was that it was open the very next day!!

We all have our own opinions on GP, but I don't think it's fair to label anyone that is pro-Paladini to be a "spin merchant" or anything else.

At the end of the day, we are ALL QPR supporters. Some like him, some don't.
Yeah but the facts are, the training ground was shut, paladini lied to the fanbase saying it was open (even went as far as getting it printed in the newspapers), and paladini's cronies on here also lied to the QPR fanbase saying it was open.
If pete wants to save any credibility he should hold his hands up, admit he was wrong and that he too was lied to by paladini. Then I think we could all move on.

      Will never happen though.

You missed the point I was making somewhat but anyway...

As a matter of interest, what PROOF do you have the Pete lied on this website for GP.

If a journalist from the local paper asked GP if it was true that the training ground was shut that day and he was told (lied to) that it wasn't and he subsequently wrote an article saying that the training ground was not shut. Does that mean the journalist is a GP cronie or part of GP's so called spin machine?

@Pete - do you still think that the training ground was not shut that day ?

If taking it to the paper's was enough to keep the creditors away, then surely that's what had to be done?

Like I said, this is such a SMALL issue, and why it has been brought up after all these year's I don't know?! It does seem that certain people will dig him for anything under the sun.

It was labelled as "Fact" that Bill Power absolutely despised Gianni, people saying that he even told them that directly to their faces etc etc. Utter rubbish, not even a fabrication of the truth.

Their are plenty of myths attached to Gianni, and certain people that will drag his name through the mud at any opportunity.

You are fully entitled to you opinion on him, and I respect that (even if I don't agree). But I would hope that just because my opinion differs from yours, that I'm not labelled as being a "crony" of his.

I'm a QPR fan, no politics involved with my support.

            1) How can you trust and respect someone who lies ?
            2) How do you know 100% what he told you was the truth or what he wanted you to say he said ?

It was financial mismanagement, not some wunderkind subterfuge to get these mythical creditors off the back of the club. Same as any sensible business, the club pay creditors at the last possible moment. This was a game of financial c0ck measuring that went some way over the line in the sand and Imperial College called our bluff. The outstanding bill was settled the same day and training was back on the following day. As I understand it.

Again - a real, real non story but because the club didn't have a sensible PR and supporter facing strategy in place, it was down to GP to get the story out and he just cannot help letting his prose run away with itself. Sometimes in the face of factual evidence that would come to bite him later and blow everything up for years to come.

                1. When we were in urgent need of investment and income, he remortgaged his house to give us the money required. Does that not earn just a shred of respect from you?

                2. Well in a fair few instances he backed things up with evidence, like in the case of Bill Power. Some people would have you believe they were enemies, why/where they get that idea from puzzles me... It's just not true. But I notice that smear campagn has been found out now, so we move onto something else.

It's called something like - throw enough mud and some will stick. It's a topic that will never have an ending and sadly too many people would rather talk about this than football, hell some of them don't even watch the football and when was the last time any one of them said anything positive - despite all the current positives which are starting to give us new hope for the FUTURE.

I can't believe this is still rumbling on after all these years. So much has happened since, takeovers, the managerial merry-go-round, various QPR fans have passed away etc, yet still this training ground thing rumbles on.

I remember contacting various people at the time as some on messageboards were asking if any facts could be obtained. All I did was contact Imperial college (who own the ground) where I was then given the number for the main training ground person (can't remember his title or his name but at the time I posted everything I was told, including his name and his position). He told me over the phone that the ground had not been shut and that there'd been some kind of communication breakdown? And that this used to happen even when Chelsea trained there occasionally.

I also tried to get hold of some figures (can't remember why and what for) from someone at the college and was told this was confidential info. At the time I was the only person to post actual names and what ****ed me off is that I was then accused of being on the take etc, when nothing was further from the truth.

Some time afterwards an article was written in AKUTR's in which it was stated that the story of the training ground being closed was true because some of them had been there that morning and seen for themselves.

Fair enough but I was miffed at the time that nobody thought to pre-warn me what was being published in the fanzine as it made me look like an idiot even though I had only posted on the internet what I had been told by an employee at the training ground!
All I did get was a nasty text from someone saying that I should think what I do next time before trying to make others look like w****rs. Nice!

The above is one of many reasons why I would rather drink my own urine than get involved with some of the off pitch issues as it's just not worth the hassle folks.

Oh, and Cos who wrote the article is a good bloke, as are most really, just can't be bothered anymore. SM if you read this take note!!

Has been mentioned several times but no-one has seen anything to substaniate that aside from GP's word.

Though in documentation we have seen that, through Moorbound and interest free loans, the Paladini family have taken out of the club the best part of £250k in addition to GP's salaried position.

Yes, it was confirmed the TG was closed at what, half seven in the morning
Just one thought though, when you called and it was said to be a mix up - if you had asked if the rent had been paid and were told yes or no that would have put an end to it??

Therefore Tracy, by association, you are to blame for all this boring rubbish we have to read day after day after day!!!!

Only joking and thanks for putting things into a clearer light. And good heads up for SM, who really seems like a straight forward Rangers fan that gets untold grief for being just that.
