When he first arrived, I thought he was one of the worst players that I had ever seen at Rangers. Obviously that isn't the case any longer because we loaned Matt Hill.
Gradually, he got a little better and to be fair was as much a part of the solid defence we had under Sousa as anyone else, despite not really being good enough. And this, despite playing in a position that is not his best, in order to do his bit for the team.
This season, without any question in my view, he has along with Faurlin, been the most committed and determined player in that whole sorry excuse of a squad. Whatever criticism I have ever seen about the man, never once has it been for his lack of effort , determination or his attitude to the fans, (other than supposedly giving some back to a neanderthal the other week).
And now, surprise surprise, playing in his favoured role, he not only excels but has been the one player singled out for most praise over the last three games. I appreciate that he is not the best centre half we have ever seen at LR, but I really hope that he continues to perform to his recent standards. I for one, am delighted that he has proved me totally wrong. To overcome the sort of stick that he has had to take over the last couple of years takes an awful lot of guts and character and for having the guts to do it, he deserves the utmost respect.

Whilst I don't think Ramage should be made capatin as I think your captain should be the mist irreplaceable player in the team I am very happy with his recent performances at centre half. Looks twice the player he did at RB and his footballing game at RB has probably developed his game at CB. I hope he has a good preseason and goes onto hold his place in the Starting 11 next season as he fully deserves it.

Man of the match 3 games in a row IMO and no coincidence they've all been as centre back rather than full back. I said last night that he is currently first name on the sheet and the best candidate for captain - so agree 100% with your thread.#standuptocancer

I think he's done very well as Centre Half which is his best position, I wouldn't be surprised if Warnock doesn't start him there next season.
As for Captain? He does actually have the leadership skills so I would definately consider him especially now as Rowlands days are over

Anyone see him after the game?
Walking round ellerslie and the loft pumping the badge on his shirt.
No other player has done that in a long long time at the Rangers.
Playing centre back he is a lot more vocal.
At the moment if Mahon signs a new deal, he would be my third choice.
Legs will be gone in the summer.
I actually think his distribution is worse than ramage's used to be at full back.15 years in the wilderness will be a distant memory come Sunday 8th May 2011.

His quality of distrubution shouldnt come into the equation too much.
You need a solid 100% commited no thrills guy in the middle, and whilst his claim for a starting place may be debatable after NW has finished his summer rebuilding, he is certainly a good option to come in.
We need 4 decent CBs if we are serious about progressing and he fills one of those places easily.

I presume he was bought to play RB since we have signed no other for that position.
Its amazing how actually bad at thier job some people are/were.

I think it's great that Ramage has actually got a chance to play in his preferred position. I'm really pleased that he has put in a couple of man of the match performances too, he deserves it.
Despite some very dubious performances at right back, I don't think anyone could ever accuse him of lacking effort of team spirit, even when the majority of his team mates didn't look interested.
Despite all that I have said above, I honestly think he will be nothing more than defensive cover next season. We will sign 3-4 new defenders in the summer and ship out the likes of Stewart, Borrowdale, Fitz Hall etc. As for him being captain.......come on lads, let's not be silly!

A similar thing has happened with Damion Delaney at Ipswich.
When he arrived, Keane played him at left back, and the Ipswich fans soon got on his back. Had a nightmare.
But he was moved to CB after a couple of months, and if you ask any Town fan, they'd say that he was superb for them after that.
Injured now, but really rated at Ipswich after the move in position.
You can't just stick any old defender at full back, it is a specialist position... and hopefully Warnock will get us a couple of decent ones in the summer, to add to the 101 other players we need to turn this unbalanced squad into a good unit that can challenge for promotion one day.
Tosic and Leigertwood could be the answer, if they get the chance to settle in those positions.
Maybe Voltz too.
But no more converted centre backs please.Final Version - Hope you like it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1z0UQ0eqRM
