    change the record..

You have your views, I have mine/.

One person holds the budget for players and it wasn't Gianni, just like it won't be Warnock next season.

Flavio held the purse strings on what could be sold and brought in, likewise Amit will no doubt have the overall decision making process over what Warnock wants.

Being that we've hardly spent millions in the last two years and had to sell our best players, could not expect much more.

Flavio soon realised that with our small crowds, he could hardly recoup his spending. Unless of course you think people take over clubs to lose millions?

So players nearing the end of their contracts would be interested. I think Faurlin, Connolly, Cook are good enough for a promotion winning side. If we can get Taarabt and Simpson for the reported accepted bids, that will still leave over £5 million to sign a big striker, strong central midfielder and an uncompromising centre back. I think we could get Speroni and Heaton reasonably cheaply, or just Speroni and keep Cerny. Gorkks alongside a big centreback would probably be OK and look a much better player although his lack of pace is a concern. The Serbian left back looks promising. Probably need a wide sided player on the right as well - maybe nick one from Palace or
go into the lower leagues for a cheaper promising player.
You could be right Jonno, but don't forget as well as a spine this team also needs fleshing out. Two new fullbacks for starters. Cerny, for whatever reason, is clearly not wanted. On top of that as you say we need another centre half, someone on the right (I'd personally be happy with Buz but he doesn't seem to figure in Warnock's plans) another centre mid and also poss someone on the left (in my view jury still out on Cook: if you take sentiment out of it not sure he has done anything really). And then up front assuming German and Balanta need to be loaned out to gain experience and Helguson is effectively gone we basically don't have a single striker to work with for next season. Any promotion winning side has at least three and more likely four good strikers.
That, in short, is a lot of players.

Swerving the whole point again pete.

Paladini was responsible for signing the players. He said so in sm's interview.

Well, I did mention the Serbian left back we've already got, so that's one fullback. He's an international, so may well be good enough. A right back would be good, but Connolly can fill in there - even Leigertwood to a degree.
I would have that as lower down the priority list. As for strikers, I mentioned signing Simpson as well as a big target man type. It does seem that Cook has recovered from injury, and with a decent pre-season should be good enough.
The imperitive thing is a spine to the team, a strong presence up front, midfield and at the back, with at least one of them leadership material. The keeper(s) I mentioned as well. Of course, there is the issue of covering players in the squad, but realistically I think we'll have to make do with what we have for that mostly - I can't see us offloading too many of the current wasters unless they are out of contract. Maybe a couple of decent loans when and if we need them, with more money being available in January depending on how we're doing. That will be a busy summer for Warnock, but if he can achieve the above I think top six is more than possible.

Not worth going down this route.

Spent years putting my point across, if its not worked before it ain't going to work now.

Mittals don;t have to employ him, they do. They would know far more about the club than any of us, not worth me debating the case.

I'll explain to you so you may understand...

                        previously

GP..Did not hold the Player budget..It was held by Flavio Briartore who only invested in the team in the first January he was here.. Since then we have offloaded and sold players for profit, brought in c.rap loans because no money was made available. Unless of course you are suggesting that any previoue manager or indeed the former DOF was given a 10 million budget?

In future Neil Warnock will not hold the player budget.

All decisions on players coming in, will be made after discussion with the manager, by the people who hold the purse strings. Luckily for us, we don't have a person who holds the purse strings now who wants to recoup any money and appreciates that to progress we need a good player budget..

I know its talking at a brick wall, but those are the facts

I love playing this game, I really do. So, Flabio Briatore knew Nigel Quashie, Patrick Aygemang, Gary Borrowdale, Kaspars Gorkks, Fitz Hall and Matteo Alberti well enough to bring them to the club then?

                          1. I reckon that he probably hasn't even heard of Peter Beardsley or Gary Birtles let alone that ragamuffin bunch.
                          2. So, a Director of Football had nothing to do with player recruitment.

Honestly, Pete, you really do seem a decent bloke, but the one on your arm is an elbow and the one you sit on is called your 'arris - I hope you can tell the difference!

We all know the truth, but you keep arguing white is black and black is white if it makes you feel better!

Your argument is flawed because you have names there in Quashie who Hart wanted. Gorkss think was a decent buy, would not have come without Dowie's consent.

All previous managers apart from De Canio and Dowie (on Parejo and De carmine) had major if not all the input on players coming in

love the way you highlight the lesser players.

Seem to remember Ageymang and Vine knocking the goals in for fun and no-one being critical at the time, Jany 2008??

For every Alberti, their is a Tarrabt

For every Hall their is a Gorkss

For every Pellicori their is a Simpson

Can only spend, what you are given..Its that simple.. Towards the latter stages that was zilch

Yes, Aygemang started well, but his track rcxord was such that he was never going to continue that run for 4 1/2 years and that contract WAS questioned by many at the time. Vine was excellent, but has been unlucky with injury. Taarabt is a loan, Gorkks has been average at best; don't forget StewPeas was PoS above Gorkks last season.

But, yet again you miss the point. 40 players in over the last two-three seasons and we are EXACTLY where we were at the start of that period; we still need 9-10 new players.

At least you'd get the colour of a zebra right - most would say one is black and white, but with your arguments it would be white and black!
