  • pompey allowed to sell before end of season...

who would we want and who would come to qpr? seems like the pompey fire sale is about to take off, and especially given NW's comments last night he wants all transfer action this week to reflect long term moves.

seems to me this could be a real opportunity. in my opinion hreidarsson, finnan and tommy smith would immediately transform our starting 11.

    thoughts?

Doesn't it say they can't play this season

Either Mullins or Brown in the middle.
      James in goal.
      Steve Finnan at RB.
      Hreidarsson at CB.
      Tommy Smith up top.

The rest are either unrealistic or just not good enough.

they can't play in the premiership this season. the rest of the football league and abroad they can play subject to permission from fifa. players can also be bought now but stay at pompey until the end of the season.

unfortunately james is unrealistic. he'll easily be snapped up by a bigger team...hell, he'll probably be england's keeper at the world cup.

I wouldn't say he's completely unrealistic due to his age. Not saying he'd definately sign, but it's not beyond the realms of possibilities.

I think they can be signed on loan, with QPR paying a 'loan' fee to Portsmouth.

In wgich case Smith, Hreiderson and possibly Finnan, could all be signed. These would improve the team now, and could even go on to play a major part next season.

stan, players can be outright sold too. pompey have special permission to sell outside of the transfer window.

I think what Stan is trying to say is that there is a way around allowing them to play. From what I can tell, the players sold for a fee cannot play any part in the rest of the season, for either club.

With the 'loan' option, we can pay them a fee for borrowing the player and settle up at the end of the season.

yea i definitely think they latter is an option benny, but my reading is that outside of the premiership players can actually be sold now and play a part in the rest of this season - something that must be pretty interesting to NW given his comments last night. An excerpt of the Premier League statement reads:

"These have now been received to the satisfaction of the board and therefore it has decided to allow Portsmouth FC to make player sales under the following circumstances:
                    1. Players may be sold to other Premier League Clubs but may not play first team football for the new club before the end of the season.
                    2. Players may be sold to a Football League or foreign club, subject to Fifa's approval.
                    3. Portsmouth FC may enter into an agreement with another Premier League, Football League or foreign club that a player will be transferred to that other club in the summer."

Nugent - currently on loan to possibly doomed Burnley.

That looks pretty black and white there mate. I stand corrected as a transexual.

I was just chatting to a mate and he had mentioned about what the 1st line had read. Maybe still a good idea for the loan choice as well though.

Decent shout, but I'm honestly not one of his fans. I think he's very average.

I feel the same to a certain extent although he has scored 3 in 7 for a struggling Burnley in 2010 - would prefer Beattie.
