  • Discussing The Championship Next Season

I haev to say, think it will be even weaker than this season.

Newcastle and WBA you would have expected them to go up (though Middlesboro have disappointed.

With the potential teams coming down Portsmouth, Burnley, then maybe Hull or Wolves, not sure they will be classed as automatics to go up next season?

From Division 1, you then have Norwich and Leeds who wouldn't be expected to challenge for promtoion, first season up and then whoever else goes up might well struggle.

All in all, if we get our spending right, it really will be our best chance for years.

    What does everyone else think?

Leicester will be one of the teams next season to watch out for, actually think they might go up via the Play offs.

They do have a prudent and successful chairman in Mandaric.

With Leeds, just think they migh consolidate next season?

or do you fancy them, if they do get promoted?

I can see your point, but how many thought that Leicester would be in the top 4, and Ipswich would be in the bottom 6, at the start of this season?

I think if Leeds spent a few quid, they could do very well. Ipswich should improve a lot.
But Norwich are skint, and if they don't get a buyer, they are in big trouble.

But I do think we will have a weaker league next season.

In all fairness with the exception of Newcastle nothing will change next season.

Consistency is key in this division even if you are not turning teams over every week, just take a look at Swansea.

              Well put it this way,

3 seasons ago Bristol City got promoted to the CCC and finished 4th.

Swansea had a real go at and came close to getting into the play-offs last year in their first season in the CCC. And now we have Leicester looking like certs for the top 6.

Go back some years, and after Man City dropped into the 3rd tier, they won back to back promotions.

Don't see why a resurgent Norwich and Leeds can't make a strong challenge, especially considering the large crowds they get, which would fund a good transfer spree.

Dismiss these sides at your peril.

As for those going down, I agree, none of them look like doing a Newcastle and West Brom.

Middlesbro have been disappointing, but are still in withn a chance of the play-offs. I think they made a mistake in sacking Southgate so early, when they were in a good position (the same mistake QPR made with Dowie).

we should get ebanks blake from wolves if they go down, i know he aint premiership class at all, but he tears this division to shreds. but yeah back on topic i think the league wont be as strong on paper but still think there will be a couple teams that pull away from the rest, then the usual battle for playoffs so will be as tough as it always is

The long and the short of it is that this division as always will be tough and unpredictable, which means it is vitally important that we invest in the playing staff and leave Warnock to it.

We say this every year, that teh standard is dropping. But its not, we were supposed to be challenging (in the medias eyes) and look where we are, likewise with Ipswich.

It will be very tough next season, probably tougher as we have some big clubs coming up and decent teams coming down.

                      Exactly.

How many will be desperate for Hull, Burnley and Pompey players? Not many will leave and therefore they will be able to keep the bulk of their squad together.

Norwich, Leeds, Charlton and even Millwall could all do well in the CCC. I think it will be as tough as ever - even more reason why we should strengthen all over the park.
