The man is so lucky to be in ANY job let alone a high profile one knowing what he did as manager of QPR when he squandered the £6m we got for Sir Les on Zelic,Osbourne and the likes.Between him and Thompson they nearly did a Briatore and ruined our club.I played sunday league football today.
Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

As manager anyone would have struggled when we sold Les, it was who we replaced him with that was the **** up.

I agree with you both.
I can't stand seeing him on TV and always switch channels before he can speak.
As a player, I thought he was great for QPR, but as a manager the man STINKS.
I told him in a letter he was making mistakes with Zelic, Osbourne, Somner and Hateley and he told me in time, they would prove to be quality signings for QPR.
I guess that shows that I was right and he was so totally wrong.

Dont dispute his ability as a player but post playing career his efforts have been average at best. Reminds me of Peter Shilton or John Barnes fantastic players but turd managers difference is Wilkins has managed to hang around in the game.
Always wants to come across as the impartial thoughtful gentleman. Cant ever remember him saying anything controversial incase he upsets someone.
Geejaybee agree with your comments

I disagree.
Sir Les was an exceptional player, but a decent manager could have signed players to counter act the loss of such a player.
That pre-season saw:
Niall Quinn sold by Man City to Sunderland for around £750K, he bought Hateley.
He could also have tightened QPR's defence to make amends for not scoring many goals by signing Nigel Martyn and Richard Shaw from Palace. They went to Leeds and Coventry for fees totaling around £2.5M. He bought Somner £600K, Zelic £1.25M and Osbourne for £1M.

Losing Sir Les but failing to replace him cost us our top flight position in the end.
I still think Wilkins was a good player for QPR as for Les the mans a god.

I agree losing him was a huge blow, and it was down to how he was replaced whether QPR stayed up or not.
That's why as a manager, Wilkins was shocking. I took your comment 'any manager would have struggled' as a defence of Wilkins.

HE may have screwd up as manager, but i will always have the utmost respect for the man. He is a legend of the game and was simply awesome as a player for us in his twilight years.
Everyone mentions the sale of Les being the beginning of the end, but without Wilkins creating countless chances for Sir Les with sublime passing, Les may never have got the goals that built the confidence and helped him become the player he was.
It frustrates me to see him involved with Chelsea, but he will always be a legend for me.
