Our best times in our history reflect what kind of crowds we can get. We fill when we have a game for promotion or for the big games. Yes, we sold our allocation for Cardiff, but some percentage would have been made up of friends that don't actually support the club.

Would be interesting to know how much of our 12,000 crowds each week are the same people, as work committments do prevent many supporters from coming every week and money is a really important factor for many. For those it might be a case of picking and choosing.

The trouble SKY and media in many respects dictate the new fans that coming along. How difficult for example for QPR parents to convince their kids to support QPR, when Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd get so much coverage. We will never really gain more QPR fans until we get back to the premiership.

I look at Fulham as a prime example, we have more genuine fans than they have, but over the last 10 years they have managed to get 22,000 crowds, simply down to people starting to support them

In the eighties you could walk by kids and they would be wearing QPR shirts in surrounding areas, that doesn't happen now. It will take years to reverse that and its only done by success on the pitch and encouraging young kids now.

To answer the original question think we probably think we could have around-75,000-100,000 who say they are QPR fans. I would be interested top see how many different supporters turn through the turnstiles each season, think we would be surprised

.... just to add another side to this debate ~ Most, not all London cab drivers are into football. From what I've seen during my 20 years in the cab-trade, and you have to bear in mind there are about 26,000 of us driving (people mad) round the streets of London .... by that I mean, the cabbies who have some sort of sticker or club badge on their cab, unfortunatly I can't give numbers, but in my order of who's got the most support, goes something like this!

1st Arsenal .... by far the most
      2nd West Ham
      3rd Millwall
      4th Spurs
      5th chel5hit
      6th QPR

They are the top 6 best supported clubs in the cab trade, I've never seen a Barnet cabbie, Orient have a few as with Brentford but your only talking a dozen or less. Palace and Charlton do have decent cab support but nowhere near the top six.
Outside that .... there is one Derby County cabbie? Celtic have a few as do Glasgow Rangers and Man Utd. I've seen one Man City and also one Sunderland cabbie. Quite a few of the West Indian cabbies sport a Jamaica flag ...... and there is one very strange Porto cabbie??

So from the top I'd roughly say the Arsenal cab support runs to maybe 2,000 possibly more, then going down to QPR which is I'd say runs to about 300ish!

Palace and possibly Millwall might just have more fans than us in Greater London and the fringes I suppose, but in the South East of England as a whole I reckon we have significantly more support than either of those two.

You can count at least 25 in the Margate area for sure!! Judging by the amount of fans that were at the play off final at Wembley Vs Derby, I would say around 50 k . I don't judge a fan of any club that doesn't go to every game, home or away, I can only get up maybe 5 or 6 times a season nowadays, different back in the day when I barely missed a home game, but life happens and gets in the way sometimes, it's possible to support a club from afar, it's where your heart is that counts. The 9 years I served in the Royal Navy meant I didn't see a single game in that time, but my love and support for the club was the same as it always was

I reckon @100,000-125,00. I would estimate the highest supported club (obviously Man U) at around 4 million. Here are my estimates for other London clubs, although I also include Watford:

            Arsenal--1 million
            Chelsea--2 million
            Fulham--60,000
            Tottenham--1 million
            West Ham-500,000
            Charlton--80,000
            Palace--85,000
            Milwall--70,000
            Watford--100,000
            Brentford--40,000
            Leyton Orient--40,000
            Barnet--25,000
            AFC Wimbledon--20,000

Apologies if I've missed any clubs out. What is your opinion? Am I a long way out in my estimates?
Don't think Chelsea have more fans than arsenal or spurs
