Our best times in our history reflect what kind of crowds we can get. We fill when we have a game for promotion or for the big games. Yes, we sold our allocation for Cardiff, but some percentage would have been made up of friends that don't actually support the club.
Would be interesting to know how much of our 12,000 crowds each week are the same people, as work committments do prevent many supporters from coming every week and money is a really important factor for many. For those it might be a case of picking and choosing.
The trouble SKY and media in many respects dictate the new fans that coming along. How difficult for example for QPR parents to convince their kids to support QPR, when Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd get so much coverage. We will never really gain more QPR fans until we get back to the premiership.
I look at Fulham as a prime example, we have more genuine fans than they have, but over the last 10 years they have managed to get 22,000 crowds, simply down to people starting to support them
In the eighties you could walk by kids and they would be wearing QPR shirts in surrounding areas, that doesn't happen now. It will take years to reverse that and its only done by success on the pitch and encouraging young kids now.
To answer the original question think we probably think we could have around-75,000-100,000 who say they are QPR fans. I would be interested top see how many different supporters turn through the turnstiles each season, think we would be surprised
