With Keane having gone to Ipswich it looks more likely that De Canio will return so how did our old manager fare?

Points Per Match: 1.48
Percentage of Points Accumulated: 31 out of 63 = 49.2%
1.48 points per match is the equivalent to 68 points over a 46 match season. This year, 68 points wouldn't be enough, but this stat is based on last years results and last years players. Under De Canio we were conceding at 1.38 goals a game after January compared to the 0.95 goals a game for the whole of this season but since De Canio's last match our defence in terms of both personnel and performance has improved and overall the squad has a greater strength in depth.
I've ignored the results pre January as the strength in squad is non comparable to what is was after Christmas 2008. I regularly look at stats to answer a question posed but with this I wanted to see for myself and to show you what De Canio could achieve and I'm glad they were as good as they were. His biggest weakness what the defence but this was mainly down to the players available to him and his often fondess for tinkering. Kieran Lee, Mancienne, Malcolm, Rehman, Timoska and even Bolder were at one stage tried at right back but hopefully with new recruits in the summer he won't need to find his best players as they will already be clear to see.
All managers will split opinion but his record and at this level is decent if not yet spectacular.
